Gossip Malaysian & Thai Cousine Description
Synonymous with British Malaya was the Kopitiam, which literally means coffee shop or café. Kopitiams were commonly found all over Singapore and Malaya and was a place for people to go to eat and drink and to chat or gossip about the latest happenings and read the newspapers passed from one hand to another in the days when there was no Internet.
British Malaya loosely describes a set of states on the Malay Peninsula and the Island of Singapore that were brought under British control between the 18th and the 20th centuries.
Unlike the term ‘British India’, which excludes the Indian princely states, ‘British Malaya’ is often used to refer to the Malay States, which were under indirect British rule, as well as the Straits Settlements, which were under the sovereignty of the British Crown.
Before the formation of the Malayan Union in 1946 and the Federation of Malaya in 1948, the territories were not placed under a single unified administration. Instead, British Malaya comprised the Straits Settlements, the Federated Malay States and the Unfederated Malay States.
Under British rule, Malaya was one of the most profitable territories of the British Empire, being the world's largest producer of tin and rubber. About 30% of Britain’s economy at that time depended on British Malaya.
Today, the Kopitiam has become an institution and is part of Malaysian culture and you can find Kopitiams all over the world, owned and run by Malaysians, where overseas Malaysians who are homesick can meet and keep in touch with their motherland.

I went there with with my wife and in laws. We had a very good time. The food is very tasty and the service is excellent, will definately go again.
Great food with wonderful staff & fast service. Had our dinner at 17:00 (satay, mee udang, nasi ayam) & char kueh teow for supper! How greedy I was but since came all the way from Hull, why not eh?
Food is delicious and well proportioned. Service is polite and attentive. Menu is quite reflective on the foods that I would expect and enjoy. Myself and friends have been here on several occasions and have never been disappointed.
Food amazing - been here a few times now. Get a side order of stir noodles, unbelievably good. Can't fault the place for quality and price! Recommended

Been here many times when I have cravings. I'm Singaporean, so I need this food to keep sane when I don't fancy spending the whole day cooking. This is the best Malaysian food in the region. Very happy with the food especially the char kway teow which is fragrant from the hot wok. The prawn noodles are very good too with a good rich prawn stock. Some of the dishes are a bit spicy so be aware if your palate is untrained! Also very happy with the service - very refreshing to have young white British staff who have learned about and understood the cuisine.
Masak lemak cili padi and parang curry were gorgeous! Rice were fragrant and fluffy which is contrary to one bad review. Enjoyed the meals immensely! Excellent for a community restaurant & good value for money. Friendly owners & staff too. Going back for the nasi lemak - only served weekends.

Ordered the veggie pad Thai and veggie spring rolls, spring rolls were amazing but pad Thai left a lot to be desired. Won't be ordering again in a hurry.
