⚽️ Wednesday would usually mean a training session for the club, but as you will be aware by now the importance of social distancing in flattening the curve of the COVID 19 virus has put a stop to all footballing activity for the foreseeable future. Although this is hugely frustrating for the club, given that strong form saw us pushing hard for promotion and in a cup quarter-final, it pales in significance to what some will be going through, both now and in the near future. ...We look forward to being able to complete the season at some point but while we wait for the football to resolve itself our thoughts are with some of our friends and supporters over the past few years.

💷 There are clearly huge financial uncertainties for a lot of the great community minded businesses that have helped the club out in the past so if you can support them in any way during what will be a tough time, I’m sure they would appreciate it. Over the years we’ve had support from the likes of Stanley Chow Illustration, Cocoa Tree, WH Frost Butchers, Vinyl Fiction, The Blizzard, Tarsier Southeast Asian Spirit, Unicorn Grocery, Breakout Manchester, Lancashire Cricket Foundation, Romiley Cricket Club & Comedy at Chorlton Irish Club to name just a few. So whether it be deliveries of food, books and drinks or buying vouchers as early Xmas presents anything you can afford to keep good local businesses ticking over could be valuable. We are aware that both Romiley CC and the brilliant team at Platt Lane Sports Complex - MMU Sport will be losing more than just our revenue over the next few months, and we hope that the staff can come through it to the other side unscathed.

❤️ With the economic pressures that some people are going to feel in the near future the tireless team over at Reach Out to the Community- CIO could be busier than ever over the next few months and the club would encourage members to help them out in any way you can. Cash donations are obviously great but they are always looking for contributions to their foodbank and for unwanted clothes to sell or hand over to people who need them. It’s going to be a difficult time for a lot of people and we hope that the club can play some small part in searching for ways that we can look out for each other, come together and think of the more vulnerable members of our community.

Last weekend was one of mixed fortunes across the club as the three teams managed to cover all bases with a win, a draw and a loss.
The first team ran out 4-2 winners against Leigh Athletic with a dominant performance with the ball that could have been turned into more goals on another day. It saw Man of the Match, Alex Ouzounoglou, grab himself two goals, with the first of them being the 1000th goal scored for the first team. One of the goals was a goalmouth scramble and th...e other was a calm rounding of the defence and goalkeeper. A Jake Pearson finish from close range and a Chris Lewis penalty conversion, from a kick he won himself, rounded off the goals. The result sees us move up into 7th with a visit to Wilmslow next on the cards.
The reserves finished the day in third place in the league after taking a point against a stubborn Atherton side. The opposition were reduced to ten men just before half-time but the lads were unable to break them down and take all three points on the day. A single goal from Mike Lawton, described by those in attendance as a cheeky back heel, off an Oli Wright corner left the final score at 1-1.
It was a disappointing day's work for the third team as they went down 6-0 away to Staly Lions. It's a result that is made all the more unpleasant by the fact that an incident of racist abuse from our first meeting with them is still, as of yet, unresolved by the authorities. The threes will be looking to get back to winning ways next weekend with a home match against Whalley Range.

Great weekend for everyone at the club as all three teams grab themselves a win to collect 6 points and progression in a cup.
The first team managed to put together back to back 3-2 victories against Bolton L&G Club with goals from D.Badrock, Fraser and Pearson. A dominant showing with the ball that saw strong debuts from two of the young lads, James Burke and Max Fenton.
The Reserves were in a really competitive cup match with Bolton L&G Reserves, which ended in a 2-2 scorel...ine featuring goals from youngster Brad Snape and skipper Will Cormack. Govan moved through to the next round after winning the shootout 5-4 with successful kicks from Cormack, O'Brien, Rathore, B.Norbury & P.Stuart whilst B.Tolhill topped off a great performance in the 90 minutes with the vital save in the shoot-out.
And to round off the day the third team bounced back from a poor result last week to put in a strong 3-0 against second placed Chadderton. A brilliant result that saw A.Cruickshank, A.Basra and H.Chaudry all getting themselves on the scoresheet.
We go again next week and look to build on it. ⚽️🔥🔥🔥
