'Stone', a 2017 sculpture by London-based artist Prem Sahib, presents a mass-produced drinking fountain contained within a block of pigmented resin. It replicates the drinking fountains once installed at Chariots Roman Spa, an East London sauna and meeting place for the local gay scene, which closed in 2016 after almost 20 years of operation. By encasing the fountain within a shimmering blue resin, Sahib’s work is a transformative piece in which a relic of a modern day ‘ruin’ is effectively preserved and memorialised #lgbthistorymonth #lgbthistory
