Pleasure to work with such an amazing holistic medical team. If we want the best results for our patients, it is really important to work together so that everyone pulls on their area of expertise for best treatment outcomes.

This week is a National Fertility Awareness Week. Understanding that the journey to parenthood is often the most challenging one we face during our lifetimes, please remember the importance of kindness, empathy and support mums-in-the-making deserve from all of us.
It is well known that many holistic medicine models can assist them on this journey, acupuncture and Chinese Medicine being often treatments of choice, but we can surely all offer our kindness, non judgmental stance and quiet and loving acceptance.

ITV reports: "University study finds evidence that hormone levels measured in hair can affect IVF success rate".
Time reports, back in 2011: "Stress Doesn’t Hurt Chances of Success with IVF". Soooo, which is it, then?!
After working with hundreds of women and men on the route to parenthood via IVF, I find that the best method to start with and to work by is my forever favourite - the common sense! Then, add a good measure of individualistic medicine model ...of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. With some couples, every little bit of information they hear is stressful, adrenaline shooting up and staying to the point they don't eat, sleep, empty their bowels; for others, it is more a question of organising everything in to their daily routine with minimal effort, in every sense of the word. Both groups have successful and unsuccessful IVF cycles...
Individualisation of treatment works best in my opinion, assessing everyone and working out treatments for every category of personal constitution. I do this every day in my work. With passion, determination, and if I may say so myself, results 😊Simple!

It has been a wonderful week!! 4 πŸ‘ΆπŸ»πŸ‘ΆπŸ»πŸ‘ΆπŸ»πŸ‘ΆπŸ» on their way ✨✨✨ Happy, happy, happy πŸ˜€ One natural conception, 2 successful IVF's 🀰
Regular acupuncture treatments for about couple of months; moxa, also used at home in between sessions; foods specifically for each constitution and according to different phases of cycle, natural and IVF; support, support, support, during the session, after the session, evenings, weekends. Sometimes, only for a minute, or a quick text, or an e mail. It takes very little out of our day to show that we really care, that we are there and we can be leaned on. At least, this method has served me right so far and for many years. Here is to my additions this week πŸ’«πŸŒˆπŸ£ And congrats to my mums-to-be, you know who you are 😘😘

☯️ Another treatment using moxibustion only in chronic case of sciatica and numbness alond the lower part of the GB channel, to GB -41. Movement improved by 70 percent after one treatment, no numbness at all, no pain in the low back!! Moxa box for 30mins on BL and GB, moxa burner along GB channel 30 mins, no needles ☯️ One seriously grateful patient, so pleased as this gentlemen travels an hour and a half to see me one way, twice a week!!

Magnificent moxa πŸ™ The application of this fantastic method is sΠΎ wide spread preventatively and curatively that I use it in my clinic nearly every day. It is also very useful with patients who are initially not so keen on needling, for elderly, babies and children. My absolute favourite ☯️

That moment when you realise you can help people enjoy life and it's beauty by simply reminding their bodies kindly, gently, what they know best-heal through their own wisdom ☯️ One of many happy patients texting:
"Here we are up close to the bluebells (followed by azaleas & other flowers in bloom) & I didn't sneeze once! Could this be my first hay fever-less year in 30+ years? Bless u & your magical acupuncture knowledge."

☯️ BAIHUI - must be one of my favourite points in clinical practice, with a masterful name 'Hundred Meetings' where all Yang Qi of the body meet, to treat 'One Hundred Diseases'. Depending what effects we want to achieve, to subdue the Yang Qi or to indeed raise the Yang Qi when deficient, it has such a number of indications, that I find it difficult not to use it. Fascinating is that with my mums-to-be in the first trimester, we use Baihui to keep the Qi raised and prevent... miscarriage, whereas the same Baihui we use in the last few days of gestation to descend the Qi and promote the movement of the baby downward in the birth canal - all this just depending of the direction of our pins-never stops to amaze me ☯️ Or, for those not pregnant, but tired, stressed and frazzled, just a tiny tap, very shallowly, will make all the difference ☯️

Spring is here 🌱 Abundant Liver Qi coming through- hence the name of this point Taichong- The Great Rushing. Time of change from winter to spring needs gentle Qi directing. In clinical practice, used to prevent or resolve issues of headaches, abdominal pain, dizziness; smoothing the flow of Liver Qi in the chest, throat, intercoastal, genital areas; nourishing Liver Yin and Blood, important in all fertillty issues ☯️

This was a bumpy road to family for Vicki and her family, many hoops to jump through, many changes to make, tears and laughs, but we got there, hand holding, bear hugging and acupuncturing, too ;-) One of many happy families, I am truly blessed to share their life journey, with a lovely little girl B. crowning it all. πŸ’«πŸ’«

As many of you know, and for a few of you that don't, I love writing, and writing my blogs is a real pleasure. Every so often, an opportunity to combine spreading the word about my passion for acupuncture and healthy and happy life comes along, too, where I can combine the two for the eyes of general public. I am really pleased that this publication came out, and humbled to be one of the experts in their launch issue. Great read, many very current topics covered, and super friendly team -love the hand written note that came in the post with printed issue this morning--right up my street. www.acupunctureclinicharleystreet.co.uk
