What do you mean, here we are?
What do you mean, here we are? is a retrospective of the renowned Townhouse Gallery in Cairo, Egypt. Founded in 1998, Townhouse emerged onto a scene dominated by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and its private affiliates. As one of the first independent art spaces in Cairo, Townhouse has borne witness to an unusual and intriguing trajectory.

Superb exhibition; great space too.

User

Superb exhibition, beautifully presented, and manageable in size. If you want to learn about Soviet reality for the majority of women there's no better place. Tears mixed with rueful laughter.

User

My graduate work is devoted to Soviet tourism poster. Thanks to the gallery for the provision of materials that helped me.

If the gallery is so good i wonder how good is their staff

I visited GRAD one week ago. It was my first time. I liked this Gallery and it's polite and well-informed staff. I would like to say thank you very much for exhibition Superwoman. The theme of the exhibition is very familiar to me. Some things I know from my own experience (I was born in the Soviet Union in 70s of last century), other things I've heard from my parents and grandparents. What I saw, read and watched in the exhibition was very accurate depicted period after Russian Revolution and place and role woman in the new world. Thank you so much for your brilliant work.

GRAD gallery has made an exceptional contribution to the London art world for nearly five years. With a succession of intelligently curated and beautifully designed exhibitions GRAD has introduced to a wide audience the often unfamiliar arts of Russia, the Soviet Union and the post-Soviet world. Combining visual and performing arts to great effect, the scope of GRAD's exhibitions has ranged from the theatre of Shostakovich to the Great War, from Futurism to Constructivism, and from idealistic monuments to posters, toys and chocolate bars. There has always been an emphasis on education, through seminars, school visits and a fabulous travel program. I was lucky enough to join a thrilling recent trip with GRAD to explore the art and architecture of Georgia and Armenia. For Russians and British audiences alike GRAD has worked to evoke memory and foster understanding. I wish it well as it moves to new levels in the world of arts and ideas.

User

Always interesting and thought-provoking especially for those of us who have visited the USSR or Russia-nice venue and good audio guides often.
