We went on a very cold Sunday night, 6pm and were there for 3 hours. Service was impeccable, just the right amount of attention at the right time. I had visited the original IVY, plus the one in Covent Garden on the Square and the newish one on Broadwick Street, so not sure what I was expecting at Granary Kings Cross. It's pity the Shepherds Pie was not on menu but delighted to greet the Prawn Cocktail favourite of mine. Superb. In the end I went for 3 courses : Lamb Shoulder followed by Creme Brule ( only intending for 2 courses ) as the ambience, food and staff warranted it. I live just a 10 min walk away and it already feels like my local.

User

Really impressive experience. From the moment we entered (without a booking), we were looked after by brilliant staff who really make this place special.

User

I grew up in a dining atmosphere with an appreciation for Architecture and Interior Design, especially for restaurants . If in London may I suggest any of The Ivy League Restaurants! It’s not so much about the cuisine but more about the impeccable service and attention to its guests for an unforgettable experience in an amazing ambience with cool, funky music in the background and of course a cozy decor!Granary Square Brasserie I will definitely visit you again!

User

I cant recommend Granary Sq Brasserie enough.

Had breakfast on the Saturday and honestly the service and food fell a little bit short of expectations for part of the Ivy/ Caprice Group which I can understand as they are still finding their feet as a restaurant.

The usual expectation in a restaurant is complimentary drinks or money off the bill, which they did kindly offer & honour to rectify their mistake.

What I didn't expect was an email back when my partner followed up by email to the general manager David as requested offering us dinner on the house to make up for everything.

Dinner from start to finish this evening was fantastic and we can't thank you enough.

Many thanks and all the best.

User

Had a business meeting there this lunchtime and was delighted to find such a good option near to the office. Acoustics were very good and make this a top choice for any occasion when I want to hear the person I'm with. Service was excellent and the price was very reasonable, especially considering the docor suggests somewhere much pricier.

User

Fantastic service, as always, and great food. The staff really went out their way to make my mum feel special on her birthday. Really appreciated, thank you!

User

Excellent service and amazing food not forgetting the signature g and t well worth a visit

User

Everything was nice. The atmosphere, the layout, very stylish, waiters impeccable dressed and suited, the food. Only one thing, but this may be my problem, I love people who enjoy what they do and smile and they are welcoming, one of the suited waiters, with carefully waxed eyebrows, was more like I'm a model I don't need to smile I don't need to listen to you...I'm just here to catwalk around the tables. He wasn't even the most handsome of the bunch. His attitude put me off...I remember I saw once a notice on a door going out from the kitchen to the restaurant for the waiters 'smile you are on stage'. But it may just have been his 'wrong day' and the good company and the food definetely outweigh his mood....

User

An exquisite experience all around, compliments to the entire staff, from the kitchen to the front room, everyone seemed to really be in for making a fine dining experience, I would definitely recommend this for any occasion, or just if you'd like to have a nice meal.

User

My first visit to this restaurant for Dinner with seven friends last night. Varied menu and good selection of wines. Excellent food and attentive service. Mid range pricing and good value for money

User

After a rather long wait and a discussion with the manager as to lack of service , we had a great time, beautifully presented well cooked food and an absolutely amazing chocolate bombe to finish - we thought we didn’t have space for pudding, but it is not to be missed, unless of course you don’t like chocolate or caramel! It was a lovely day so we sat outside and enjoyed the views of Granary Square and it’s fountains. Seating was spacious and comfortable with lovely huge parasols. Definitely a great place for a celebration lunch.

User

Terrible service, booked for breakfast. Was seated for 10 minutes on a hot morning and had to ask the waiter to please take an order for drinks , 10 minutes after that had to call a waiter just to have some tap water. Our drinks arrived 20+ minutes of us being seated and one of the glasses was smashed.

From sitting down to recieving our breakfast it took 40 minutes, there were 4 of us and the restaurant wasn’t even busy. We weren’t the only table being ignored

Food was ok, and restaurant looks great in amazing location but standards of service let the place down.

Would not return based on the experience.

User

I was recently there and remember that I was trying to get in. Unfortunately I had not seen the main entrance and I was trying the lateral doors. Thing is their staff would simply look at me without having the common sense of pointing me into the right direction. I then walked in, and the reception were simply not happy. Doesn’t come across as a place where the staff if fairly happy. Maybe should change or review your management.

User

From being seated to actually eating our starter took 50 mins...had to ask to be served in the end after waiting so long for drinks then further waiting for someone to take our order..food was very good which was a saving grace..and why oh why does a waiter/waitress have to carry food from a kitchen to then stand in the corner waiting to be told where to take it..bizarre..won’t be visiting again I’m afraid.

User

We booked our table for lunch at 1pm; it took until half past for us to get our drinks and another 10 minutes (after having requested it from 4 different waiters) to get a bottle of water.

This continued for the whole meal; there was a half hour wait between when we asked for our mains and when we actually got served them; the side dishes arrived after we had finished the mains. I explained that I'm allergic to wheat and asked for some gluten-free bread, which (again) I had to ask multiple waiters for before it actually arrived.

The waiters/waitresses were sullen and moody; one rolled her eyes at me when I asked where my side order was (even though I had nearly finished my main course by this point).

Another waitress came over to apologise for the terrible service and said that we could either have complementary desserts or prosecco; we chose the former, and then waited for a further 25 minutes while the staff ignored us. When we asked said waitress if we could see the dessert menu to choose our orders, she said that they were giving us sorbet. We weren't even allowed to choose our complementary desserts!

Sorbets arrived; they were nice, although they came with a biscuit - I'd mentioned to the staff multiple times that I'm allergic to wheat, so I pointed at it and asked if it was okay for me to eat. The waitress said yes, and then came running back 5 minutes later saying that it wasn't and that it was a mistake. Luckily I hadn't eaten any of it, but it would have made me very sick and the staff were aware of this.

Later, when the bill was brought over, she said that she'd taken a couple of things off the bill (the dessert etc.) as an apology for the poor service. She then proceeded to overcharge both of our credit cards, which we realised a few minutes later and had to call her back to correct.

I've been here for breakfast before and loved it; the food is great and the restaurant is beautiful, but the service is an embarrassment. Possibly the worst service I've ever had, and that's a bold claim. They didn't even seem particularly apologetic for it; the staff mostly seemed annoyed that we were even questioning them as to where our orders were! Very embarrassing considering that this was a client lunch.

User

Took my sister there for a special birthday brunch, but unfortunately we couldn't eat together because they simply could not get poached eggs on toast right. First there was no butter and the wrong bread, then they tried to rush the new toast while keeping the old eggs so we received cold bread (not really toasted) and cold hard eggs, then warm toast but still hard eggs, by which point we gave up. They also forgot our coffee order and the coffee order of the table next to us. They did try their best to make up for this complaint, but it was a little bit too late to save the birthday brunch. Then we were both taken down with food poisoning - very soon afterwards. I will be complaining further about this problem to Food Standards Agency.

User

Had dinner here last night. The quality of the food is excellent. But the service was beyond awful. 4 of us for dinner, one of which was an 8 year old. We were seated and not offered anything for 10 minutes, not even water. We had to wait for everything. We were there for 2 and half hours. Every course was an interminable wait. The waiters were nice when we saw them. I eventually got up to complain after waiting over 45 mins for fish and chips. The manager barely looked at me when I complained. Not even a sorry. He never came over to the table at any point to apologise. Some food was taken off the bill. This is no way to run a restaurant. Apparently the waiters are not allowed to communicate with the Kitchen, only the managers who are run off their feet. I'd like someone to contact me from this group. It is important for you to know what is going on at your restaurant. The actual waiters were nice but the manager runs the ship and this one is sinking or perhaps you don't really care as the area is so busy. I had brought friends from LA out for a special dinner. What a disappointment!

Disappointing Experience...

My boyfriend and I spent four days in London and since there are many breakfast places to choose from, we did our research prior and ended up booking a table at the Granary Square Brasserie for Saturday morning (June 23, 2018) based on a Marie Claire article (London's Best Breakfasts: The Coolest Places to Start the Day).

However, besides the absolutely stunning interior, it was quite an awful experience. Yes, the place and the food looked pretty, but the service was definitely not up to part. The restaurant was fairly empty, yet, the staff (with the hostess being the only exception) seemed rushed and careless.

"Our" waiter was barely listening when taking our orders. The food came rather quickly, but was already cold and came way before we were served our coffee and water. We would have liked to say something but both our waiter and another female staff that seemed to be somewhat in charge were not paying any attention to our table.

When paying, we were again not asked about our experience and the waiter just threw the check on our table. You could absolutely sense that there were a million places he'd rather be than working there.

Our conclusion: absolutely not worth the money and definitely not one of the best breakfast places anywhere, especially not in London...

DESPICABLE CONDUCT

Went there this morning with friends and 2 toddlers . We reached 10 minutes before they were about to finish the breakfast menu and switch to brunch . With couple of hungry kids, we politely enquired if we could immediately place our order for breakfast before they wrap up . They were thoroughly unwelcoming and took forever to establish if they could accommodate us and it was evident from their behaviour they for some reason didn’t want to serve a family with kids! We left and had a fantastic and welcoming breakfast @Drake and Morgan nearby . My best wishes for you NOT!
