excellent food and friendly staff. A bit distracted by an old couple having an argument but it was actually pretty hilarious

User

We had an absolutely fantastic meal on Sunday night: the Tomahawk steak platter - everything was cooked perfectly. Would definitely recommend to others

User

I have no complaints. Very friendly staff that do a fantastic job and food was great. Will most definitely come back again.

We had a party of 7, on a Thursday night. Bar/Restaurant areas both steady, not busy. We were greeted upon arrival which was a nice touch and shown to table. Drinks were provided quickly enough. Sam, the waiter was very patient over our food order as we took a long time to decide. No complaints from our table foodwise, steaks appeared to be cooked as per individual requests. I had the Juicy burger, which is quite the test, it was too big for my mouth. Civilised Knife and Fork job required. The sweet potato fries were great. Drinks were topped up efficiently throughout our visit, especially the "bottomless" soft drinks which is nice as often that sort of thing gets brushed over unless requested. For dessert I had the Cookie and Mallow stack. It was nice, if anything I'd have preferred the cookie to be chewier, but was still decent enough. Pricewise worked out just under £25 a head all in, which is probably fair enough based on the experience. I'd go back again. It was a good experience.

User

Needs a more welcoming frontage, otherwise a good lunch. Good attentive service, clean and spacious. Very good value for money!

User

Went to Grand Central 7/01/17 for mine and my sisters birthday with 6 others. Three meals didn't have colslaw and we weren't told there wasn't any left, said take 10% off meals, but didn't so had to get bill re_done. We weren't asked if meals were alright or if we wanted any more drinks we had to keep calling over to ask for more. Meals were cleared up, but one plate and serviette etc. was left in front of one of my friends and we were not asked if we wanted deserts. After we paid we went to the bar to order drinks and were told they were shut. 10.30 on a Saturday night on the waterfront really! We just felt that as they weren't busy they just couldn't be bothered and wanted us to go so they could go home.

User

Went for dinner this evening. Arrived and were shown to our table in a relatively quiet restaurant - maybe 4 other couples there. Took over 20 mins before we managed to get someone's attention to order drinks. No beer left except for Coors Light which was disappointing (and not great for 8pm on a Sunday!) Ordered food and it arrived after about 20 mins - food itself was good. Though it didn't come with the sour cream advertised. There seemed to be a lack of interest from the staff and 3 of the tables around us complained about the food and service whilst we were there.

A shame really - the location is great and the place has great potential. However, the service and speed really does let it down.

User

Went for dinner there on Saturday evening. There wasn't any tables available in the restaurant so had a table in the bar area. All was fine until they had a band start to play. I believe people go to restaurants to have dinner and talk over food and drink. The music was ridiculously loud, so loud in fact that the waitress couldn't even tell us the dishes when she was bringing food out. The food was good but not much point of going to this place if you want to talk to your dinner guests. Your either a restaurant or a bar. Stick to what your good at!

User

The food was mediocre, small portions and overpriced, though I must say the dessert was delicious. The staff were friendly, but tried to bring us our food 4 times, 3 dishes were meant for other tables, 1 mistake maybe, but 3!? The live entertainment after the meal was good. Liked the cocktails.

User

Went for a large party, considering about 60 people were there only 2 bar staff and they were very slow, took 40 minutes to get a drink. Food service also really slow and food average. Would not go again.

User

Ordered onion rings arrived like charcoal replacements where awful.. desert was dry and tasted of fridge. Cocktails although was bogof tasted basically of lime and syrup. Starter was ok we shared a platter, wife's hot dog was nice and sons burger was ok, my ribs where dry but fries where lovely. £138 was not worth the money was hesitant to return after last time as meal was sub standard, but unfortunately was worse. Shame as first couple of visits where amazing especially the blooming onion which I hasten to add was no longer on menu???.. will not be returning!

User

Food was ok, nothing special, these places need to up there game, there are so many opening in Ipswich. No Chicken tenders, salad had seen better days. They are pricey and many other places have offers like 35% of food bill etc. £16 for a burger is very expensive compared to Coast to Coast or Frankie and Benny's who always have offers on. It was a Saturday afternoon with an event on the waterfront the place had a handful of customers which is a shame to see. They need some offers to entice people in. Wont be going back until some offers or prices are more realistic based on the food

User

As a group of 15 visiting on a Saturday night the place wasn't full at all! After waiting nearly an hour for our meals, some even taking 20 mins longer than the rest of us, some meals had to be sent back to be heated up - or should I say microwaved. Some meals not correct. Despite this the management was quick to resolve the issues and discount food bill. Was unfortunate as we'd all been looking forward to going. We did enjoy the cocktails

User

Went to Grand Central last night....table had been booked but table wasn’t ready..... service was terrible.... had 3 different people serving us.... had to take knives and forks from other tables .... no sauces offered.... meals were incorrect and either undercooked or over cooked! Seemed only focused on a large party table and even manageress was rude and unhelpful. We had to go to bar to get drinks and even forgot to bring out one of the main meals! Won’t be going back

User

Well as someone who doesn't get out that much when the opportunity arrives I don't think it is unreasonable to have hot food. But to be told by the manager that they have no control of what is sent to them and it wasn't really his responsibility to see that decent hot food was served was disgusting. It wasn't if we hadn't been spending lots on fizz it was a hen celebration!! Seriously do not recommend

User

We visited for my sons 17th birhday last evening, sat 3rd Dec. We had pre booked but had not been warned there was live music. The issue was even upstairs it was far to loud to hear my son talking to me. I feel this isnt just my opinion, as a table of 6 young ladies left within 5 mins of being seated!

Now, the service was fine, but not well trained. I felt sorry for them. The food quality for what is charged is poor, zero value for money. Few examples, mac and cheese for £6 on the menu, i ordered as a side, it was served but not mac and cheese, just luke warm pasta covered with grulled cheese, no sauce or flavour. On asking for it to be redone, i was approached by a senior member of staff and told sorry thats how it is??!! After a short discussion about this not being nac and cheese, it was taken off my bill.

My son ordered Dogzilla an apparenet 15inch sausage with lots of toppings, the bun was almost stale, the sausage was nade up of several smaller ones (not as explained on the menu) the toppings where not as descibed either, well none existent to start with, so it went back, then arrived with some bad looking yellow dribble which appareny is cheese??!! All for £19 !

My main was £12 it was simply a plate of chips and half a sandwich, not a real portion. Again poor value.

All in all, low quality food for prices which are too high for the quality. With the competition in ipswich now i would hope the management team will review the food quality and pricing, this could only benefit them in the long run.

We attended the restaurant yesterday afternoon (14th December 2016). When we got there we were not greeted, instead ignored, with one waitress literally walking away from us. We stood about waiting to be greeted/seated until eventually we started to walk towards the seats because we had given up waiting and the waitress who walked past us said "oh sorry" laughed and showed us to a table. This set the level of service we received. After some confusion and disappointment about our booking not having been for the Christmas menu, we were eventually asked if we would like to order. Me and my friend ordered classic cheese burgers and paid an extra £1.50 for bacon - they came without half of the stuff on it (including cheese!) so we sent them back (after half an hour of waiting for her to come over); she then came back and there was cheese this time, but a measly bit of bacon, which we got over; however despite this, the burgers were far from up to scratch, with both of us left with unpleasant tastes in our mouths (especially with a burnt outer layer). Another friend ordered the veggie burger which she also did not enjoy. When our waitress finally came to ask how our mains were after we had finished, my friend explained that to be honest, we didn't enjoy them. She again said "oh, sorry" without bothering to ask why. She then came back with the bill (even though we didn't ask for it and wanted pudding) and told us that they had taken the price of the burgers off the bill. While this was appreciated, we waited another half an hour for her to return to ask for the pudding menu (during this time some of my friends had gone to the toilet and had noticed that the waitress had been ever so busy having a good gossip). We then had pancakes with syrup and ice cream, which tasted awful! But by which point we just gave up and asked for the bill - and then, to top it all off, she short changed us! But she was sat at a table with all her work colleagues laughing away, so we no longer had the energy to mention the short change and left! Overall we were in there for around 3 and a half hours having had two courses in a completely empty restaurant, both of which most of us didn't enjoy, and quite frankly were overpriced (especially for what we got).We left disappointed in our meal and the service we received - thankfully we had a good night, but only thanks to the company!

User

Second time we have tried to eat here. Two weeks ago got told they finish serving at 8.30pm and tonight got told they were too busy to re seat us. The table they stuck us on was about big enough for a small child. There were about ten people in there and the whole of upstairs closed off. Certainly weren’t a crowd queuing up to get in. To top it all no hop house lager. Never again. Useless. On your way out.

User

It was 16th Oct 2016, a Sunday morning, and we'd booked a table for 10am for 8 of us.

Our orders were taken swiftly and we looked forward to our breakfast.

After a wait of over an hour, (during which we had chased out orders a couple of times) we eventually had out orders delivered, but all had something wrong with them and most were cold.

We complained to the manager and asked for an explanation, and he disappeared to have a word with the kitchen.

We then heard shouting and raised voices, so we decided to cut out losses and leave without eating or paying.

Other customers also commented to us that their food was cold too.

Whatever the reason was for the poor quality service, the lack of accuracy in delivering our orders, together with the poor reasons we were given while waiting for our food (apparently it takes time as it's all cooked fresh!) means we won't be returning or recommending this place.
