Went to the Grapes following the refurbishment. So much better now, the food has taken a massive step up in quality, with the added bonus of table service from extremely professional, polite, and helpful young staff.

Wednesday afternoon 9/12/16. Group of six for 3 course Christmas dinner, we all enjoyed every course .... Excellent food and great service from the staff. Good value for money in a really nice setting....

I recently had lunch at the refurbished grapes. The food was delicious. I had chicken with couscous salad & my husband had a cheese burger. Both tasted delicious & portion sizes were generous. Service was very good & personable. The grapes looks very elegant, contemporary & comfortable.

Had a great night in Grapes pub for salsa night ., good teachers and everyone seemed to enjoy themseves.,lovely buffet too. Well done to Claudia for the organisation , and Mal too. Looking forward to the next event.

Great pub. Didn't eat there so can't comment on the food. New menu on the way though. The Red Star IPA was very enjoyable. Great to have a local brewery on hand.

Only had burgers here but they were top notch & the refurbishment is really good too. Prices not excessive either; tho' at first glance you might think otherwise were the burgers are concerned but they're real burgers unlike some places I could mention...

It's getting better and better but gents toilets need attention especially when kids have to use them after pissed up footie fans. But you can't be all things to all people! Do you really need the footie trade that much !!

Wouldn't recommend the 'Sharing Nachos' , unless you are on a nil-by-mouth diet. Not enough for one person, never mind two. When we complained, we were told the management control how much they are allowed to measure out. MJs nachos far better value

Went on Xmas eve & was pleased to see it looking busier than it has done for many years - however they then decided to close 1/3 of the pub pushing everyone towards the bar and making it overcrowded - the reason - so they could set the tables for the next day.

Not too good unfortunately. Food was passible staff were a little rude at times. Smallest side order of chips i have come across for £2.29 made worse by the fact they were under cooked. If you can't cook frozen chips i ask you? The sweet potato chips fared better cooked fine and were very tasty.Shame they were cold!

The rest of the food was just badly presented. Forgettable experience all in all.

Where do I begin? Christmas dinner was a shambles. Arrived at 3pm with my husband, 17 month old son, parents & brother and sister. Not exactly a crowd. First course arrived, they left things off my sisters plate, mediocre. 1.5 hours later, still no sign of our main. So I joined the queue of angry customers to complain. The manager basically let all of his young staff (who are a credit to the pub) deal with the complain whilst he sat and drank tea! Eventually our meal came... I've had a better ready meal. Potatoes were rock solid, turkey was dry and the veg was 1 floret of broccoli and 1 sprout!! Disgrace. My brother ordered steak, medium. It came tougher than an old boot and he may as well have ordered burger! Meanwhile no sign of the manager, by this point my 17 month old was shattered and getting upset. Needless to say we cancelled dessert and did not pay. Such a disgrace charging people £55 for that! It was a joke. The only saving grace about the whole experience was the fabulous young staff who sadly had to bare the brunt of the complaints on behalf of their manager! I will not be back.

Went for Boxing Day lunch all meals had been ordered in advance and it was quiet so expected quick competent service.... not so! Starters were fine but time between starter and main course was 40 minutes then not complete one meal had been burnt by the chef so had to be redone hence the rest of the food going cold whilst waiting to start. The veg was cold to start with and one festive burger was cold. Staff were very slow at clearing between courses and we Sussed that they were told this as the chefs were not ready with the food so not their fault. Asked for manager but did not appear left it to the poor waiter to deal with who was very good and reduced the bill.... but to be honest was not worth paying a penny for will not be going back. Went for Christmas dinner 4 years ago and was lovey obviously changed hands very disappointing.

I just like to congratulate you on your lovely clients. I just rode past your establishment and two chaps standing outside felt the overwhelming compulsion to verbally abuse me as I was going past. I declined them on the offer of whatever it was they were shouting at me as there were 2 of them and I probably would have got my head kicked in. If you know who the two chaps are, please congratulate them on being astounding cunts. Thanks.

I don't why people are saying great prices! we dined her last night. Stone cold mushroom had to be replaced on both plates, sauce did not come with steak. rump steak overcooked and stringy. Waiting staff though very good. Cannot compare to the Cross House Inn or the Freshfield Arms.
