Launched in 2011 at London's prestigious Hyde Park with A Midsummer Night's Dream, the company is flourishing.
In 2012, the Company was selected to perform Much Ado About Nothing at the Royal Shakespeare Company's open air theatre The Dell as part of the World Shakespeare Festival and to launch the More London Free Festival at The Scoop following The Queen's Diamond Jubilee weekend.
In August 2012, GSL had a highly acclaimed, award nominated three week residency at Victoria Embankment Gardens. Their production of Much Ado About Nothing was nominated for two Off West End Awards for Best Ensemble and Best Production. At Christmas 2012, Grassroots Shakespeare London presented a 5 star, sell out repertory season of A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Tempest, and in 2013, performed a 5 star 6 week residency at the Old Red Lion Theatre of Romeo and Juliet and Love's Labour's Lost with one talented ensemble.
In April 2014, Grassroots Shakespeare London performed a sold out production of OTHELLO starring James Alexandrou as Iago and Nari Blair-Mangat at the Leicester Square Theatre, and celebrated Shakespeare's 450th birthday from London's West End.
For Shakespeare 400, Grassroots will be performing Twelfth Night starring Ellie Nunn as Viola, Tamaryn Payne as Olivia and John Pickard as Belch from 5th April - 14th May.
Grassroots Shakespeare London is the resident company of Leicester Square Theatre. They are the only permanent resident company in the West End and the first resident Shakespere company since the RSC. The ensemble is led by Artistic Director and Producer, Siobhán Daly.
