Graypaul Nottingham Description
Graypaul’s name has been linked to Ferrari for over 30 years but not many people know how one of the country’s leading Ferrari dealers came to be located in Nottingham.
It all started with a gentleman called David Clarke. David’s parents, Arnold & Ivy Clarke, ran a very successful box manufacturing company in Mountsorrel, Leicestershire. This start in life gave David the passion for all things mechanical and the means to indulge in his passion. David’s main passion was cars and in particular Ferrari’s. As his collection grew and he employed mechanics to help him maintain and renovate his collection so his reputation spread. Soon he was being approached by other Ferrari owners asking him to work upon their cars. The factory at Mountsorrel gave him the space and resource to have a workshop that could accommodate these requests. In these early years Graypaul had an international reputation for renovating Ferrari’s and occasionally cars are still advertised as a "Graypaul Restored Car"
As the business grew it was awarded main dealer status and moved to the Coneries in Loughborough. The business carried on growing and soon David decided to sell the business to the Otford group. This allowed David to pursue his other passion, and he funded the revival of the Great Central Railway in Loughborough. David also worked with local charities and left a legacy in the form of a residential home for the elderly.
Graypaul went from strength to strength upon becoming a main dealer and its reputation as a supplier of Ferraris as well as a repairer grew. In 1995 Graypaul was bought by local car dealer and racing driver Frank Sytner. With Frank’s experience of selling cars Graypaul soon became one of the major players in the UK Ferrari scene. The business expanded year on year with the workshop and the showroom being extended to incorporate Maserati. This growth was echoed throughout the Sytner group and in 2002 the entire Group was bought by Roger Penske.
Roger Penske believes in investing in businesses and having the very best facilities. This meant it was not long before it was decided to relocate Graypaul to a bigger site. The Loughborough site was now too small with the increase in Maserati and the used cars. Graypaul was moved to a state of the art facility in 2004. Our new dealership boasts a 60 car showroom and a workshop with 13 ramps. The workshop also incorporates a separate engine room, dinol bay as well as a wheel alignment bay.
So from David Clarke`s hobby and passion one of the UKs leading Ferrari Maserati dealerships was born. During 2013 we plan to commence a refurbishment of the showroom and ensure we still offer our customers the very best facilities.

Meet the Ferrari SP3JC - the latest one-off project from Maranello.
Designed by the Ferrari Styling Centre, the SP3JC was commissioned by a Ferrari client and collector whose brief set out to create a pure, uncompromising roadster using the chassis and running gear of the F12tdf.
The sole one-off car to be commissioned on this limited-series special, the SP3JC is the maximum expression of open-air motoring, harking back to Ferrari’s epic V12-engined spiders of the 1950s and ‘...60s.
The client’s passion for Pop Art is reflected in the strong graphics, and the unique combination of the Azzurro Met and Giallo Modena livery over the main Bianco Italia colour scheme underlines the car’s sensual volumes.

These limited-edition special-series cars are the first in a new segment called ‘Icona’ and draw inspiration from the most evocative Ferraris of the 1950s and feature the most advanced sports car technology available today.
Aimed at dedicated clients and collectors, the Monza SP1 and SP2 reference the iconic Ferrari racing barchettas of the past, not least the 1948 166 MM, which originally inspired the name ‘barchetta’, and the 750 Monza a...nd 860 Monza. Designed with the sole aim of winning, these uncompromising models helped build the Ferrari legend in the 1950s by delivering numerous victories in the World Sports Car Championship.
The Ferrari Monza SP1 was designed as an uncompromising single-seat road car that offers a truly unique experience behind the wheel. The second configuration, the Monza SP2, thanks to the elimination of the tonneau cover and the addition of a second protective screen and a second roll-bar, is instead a two-seater enabling the passenger to share the same driving sensations.
A radical choice was made for the design of the cars’ compact doors which open upwards. Equally important is the all-carbon-fibre one-piece bonnet-wing assembly which is hinged at the front to showcase the imposing V12 engine once open.
