Dig out unwanted, old or broken electrical items and bring them along to North Hertfordshire District Council’s next Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) collection, 10am-3pm on Sunday 16 February in Woodside Car Park, Hitchin.
Scam alert from Hertfordshire County Council - companies cold calling offering 'roof renovation service' involving pressure cleaning and painting of roofs. Hertfordshire Trading Standards would advise against having this kind of work done on your home and against dealing with cold callers.
Great Ashby Tree works - Pryor's Wood. Just to let you know work is being carried out in Pryor's Wood this week to thin some oak trees. This is part of a plan to support the woodland structure. Thinning out allows dappled light to the woodland floor to aid natural regeneration and will also prepare for path improvements to be carried out in Spring
Just a little reminder to residents whose properties border on to footpaths/public spaces. It is your responsibility to make sure any shrubbery/trees in your garden aren't overgrown to the extent they create a hazard outside your garden e.g. reduce visibility for drivers/pedestrians or cyclists. Trim back before it all starts growing again!
Thank you to all those who completed our survey back in the summer. The final results are published on the Community Council website. Overall residents are very positive about living in Great Ashby. Some of the issues raised are not within the responsibility of the Community Council but we can bring them to the attention of the relevant Authorities for discussion. Salt bags - the Community Council has another consignment of salt bags this year and will be handing them out on Saturday 7th December from outside the Community Centre between 10.00 & 12.00 pm. If you live on a road that is particularly treacherous in icy weather, then please come and collect a bag. This is not for personal use, but to put out on your stretch of road.
