About Greenlane Stud

Breeding and producing top quality dressage and show jumping horses

Greenlane Stud Description

A small private stud situated in Dorset. We have invested in some top quality brood mares and use the best European bloodlines to produce top quality competition foals. Some of our first homebred youngsters are now out competing and winning regularly. We always have a small selection of quality horses available as competition prospects but the quality of the home is very important to us. From foals to established competition horses.

Also finishing his season on another high yesterday was GreenLanes Hudson, owned by Liz Maybury and Georgie Wood and ridden of course by Georgie. He has had an exceptional season starting out at BE100, then moving up to Novice in April, winning and getting placed in all his Novice starts, then was also placed in his first 2* event and was just outside in his first Intermediate in July. Then of course, being a horse, he picked up a virus and had to have time off, so came bac...k at Open Novice at Little Downham where he came a great 4th, then some were cancelled and his last one this year at Bicton was another Open Novice where he came 2nd! He hasn't had a jumping penalty in any XC at all for the whole season! So finishing on a high and looking forward to becoming established at Intermediate when the season starts again next year! A very exciting combination! A few photos of them from yesterday, some professional by Jay Photos and a few from some video I took as well and just liked!! Very well done to Georgie!

Yesterday saw the end to the event season for our super mare GreenLanes Hermione (Florence - Warrant x Danzig Connection (xx) x Thatching (xx)). Florence only started eventing with Georgie Wood about 4 months ago and has been placed 3 out of 4 starts, including a great 6th yesterday in a very competitive BE100 at Bicton Arena. Florence is the dam of our very exciting young stallion GreenLanes LeBambalou, by Balou du Rouet, and spent just over a year with Stephen Mercer succ...essfully show jumping, but seems to prefer the thrill of the XC courses in her life!! A few photos of her from yesterday, some professional by Jay Photos and some from a video I took of the XC and looked good if a little blurry! She will have a break now and some chill time before doing some more SJ, Dressage and Arena Eventing in preparation for next year later in the winter! Very well done to Georgie - she seems to be loving it!!

Very well done to Georgie Wood and GreenLanes Hermione (Florence - Warrant x Danzig Connection xx) at only her second ever arena event at Coombelands, She had a great double clear in the BAE100 and came 6th on a very winding and twisty course! Thanks to Georgie for the lovely photo - as always, Florence looks delighted to be out jumping over some XC fences!! Such a super mare and doing so well with Georgie!

GreenLanes Hermione (Warrant x Danzig Connection xx) coming 4th a couple of weeks ago at South of England BE100 - only her 3rd BE event with a previous placing as well! Ridden and produced by Georgie Wood

Another great day for the GreenLane Stud horses yesterday! Georgie Wood took her own and Liz Hales' lovely GreenLanes Hudson to Little Downham where he was in the Open Novice - his first event back after a virus after his last event in July. Pouring rain and very strong winds, but like these mad event riders they still went out to compete!! A good score for the dressage of 28.8 even with a change when he slipped on a circle, super clear in the SJ and clear jumping XC with ...just over 4 time penalties as Georgie didn't want to go too fast in the mud to finish 4th overall! So a great return and just one more event to go for him this year, another Open Novice and then cracking on with some more intermediates next year! A lovely photo of them both - well, looking rather soggy, they shoudl have renamed it Pouring Downham I think!! Very well done to them both and Gill Wood as well for being super groom. Luckily I couldn't get there as it's miles and miles from Dorchester so I didn't need an excuse to stay in the lorry!!

Some more video, this time of Josh and Vee yesterday securing wins in both Novice Gold classes at Hickstead and her ticket for the Winter Regional finals! She will make someone a very exciting competition horse for the future. https://youtu.be/KuvB98NMuEE

The video of Josh and Jester scoring a great 75.28% in their first Novice Freestyle today! https://youtu.be/YFTtX5bqp5E

Excellent news for our super dressage stallion, GreenLanes Jester, today! He did his first Novice Freestyle and won with a great score of 75.28%. So just one more needed for Winter Regional qualification. We are looking forward to the first few foals by Jester due next year - 2 for us here and 3 for external mares. He will be standing at stud again in 2020 - we will keep updating details her in the New Year and he will be at the British Stallion Event again on 8th February at Addington for anyone who would like to meet him! A few photos taken from an indoor video today - so not the greatest quality with the poor light, but give you an idea of his quality. I will post the video as well when edited. Well done Josh!!

Very well done to Josh Hill and our super 5 year old mare GreenLanes Joie de Vivre (Sezuan x Sir Sinclair x Florett) at Hickstead today qualifying for the Winter Regionals. She scored a great 69.17% in N23 for a win in the Gold section and 2nd overall, with an even better 70.81% in N38Q for a win overall! Her first time at Hickstead with lots to look at but she behaved perfectly! A super mare with a great, trainable temperament. Well done Josh! A few photos from some video Josh sent me - I couldn't get there to watch today.

Very excited about our young 3 year old stallion, GreenLanes LeBambalou (Balou du Rouet x Warrant x Danzig Connection xx), currently with Connie Colfox for backing and training. Such a super temperament, he stands in the barn lose with mares around him and just wants a cuddle. He is growing up so well under Connie and her team's tutelage and is so much more balanced and consistent in his schooling - although he rarely goes into the arena, spends most of his time hacking around the lovely Dorset hills and lanes! He is the son of our super event mare, GreenLanes Hermione and we think will be an exiting prospect for SJ and Event breeding in the future! A few photos of him with Connie from today.

Thanks to Georgie Wood for this video of Florence in the BE100 at South of England on Saturday getting a great 3rd with a 25.8 dressage and just one down in the SJ to finish on 29.8!

A great 3rd place for GreenLanes Hermione (Warrant x Danzig Connection (xx) x Thatching (xx)) yesterday at only her second BE100 at South of England after a break following her foot injury. With a great 25.8 in the dressage, just rolling one pole in the second part of a short double (she is very long striding!) and a super clear and inside the time XC she finished on 29.8. "Florence" only started eventing earlier this year, she is also the dam of our very exciting young stallion, GreenLanes LeBambalou (by Balou du Rouet) so has had a very busy and exciting life in her few years! A super young mare and building a great relationship with Georgie Wood - very exciting to see them developing so well! Thanks to Spidge Photography for the lovely photos.

Had a great couple of days at Dorset County Show where GreenLane Stud were sponsoring the 1.30 show jumping each day. Despite rather low entries, those who were there certainly made up for it in quality - I think Bicton attracted a lot of usual competitors. But very well done to Katherine Ellison who won both the 1.30 classes on different horses each day! So she also got the quilted, waterproof quarter sheets we gave as prizes and all of the placed horses also got a GreenL...ane Stud 2020 Calendar as well which proved very popular with competitors and spectators alike! We look forward to being able to continue with the sponsorship for the third year in 2021 - but will have to think of some other prizes as Katherine probably has enough quartersheets now!! Many thanks to Cheval Unique for the sheets - they looked fantastic! A photo of Katherine on her winner today and also of the GreenLane Stud information area in the secretary's tent!

Many thanks to Georgie Wood for this lovely video of GreenLanes Hermione (Warrant x Danzig Connection xx x Thatching xx) at Hickstead last week, jumping a couple of 1.10 show jumping rounds and finishing off with a superb 3rd in the first ever 100 Arena Event at the venue! "Florence" is a 7 year old mare who had a superb foal as a 4 year old by Balou du Rouet, our very exciting colt GreenLanes LeBambalou and started show jumping with Stephen Mercer 18 months ago, swapping to eventing just 3 months ago. She is also a half sister to out international show jumper GreenLanes Balou Star (Darcey to her friends!). A very exciting mare and we look forward to seeing her progress with Georgie! https://www.youtube.com/watch…

Called in today to see our very exciting 3 year old colt GreenLanes LeBambalou (Balou du Rouet x Warrant x Danzig Connection) today with the great Connie Colfox. Really coming on well and developing body tone so well. He loves his work and tries so hard to do everything asked of him. A really super young man. A few photos of him working in the arena today - something he rarely does, mostly hacks out around the narrow lanes!

User

Very well done to Georgie Wood on all of her rides over the last couple of days, especially our own GreenLanes Hermione who came 3rd in the first ever Hickstead 100 Arena Eventing, second to Georgie's other ride in the class, and to Georgie's own (with her aunt, Liz Hales) GreenLanes Hudson returning after a bit of time off, getting a great 7th out of over 90 in the 1.10! A great weekend!

User

Congratulations to Josh Hill and GreenLanes Jester at Pachesham today! A bit of a frustrating trip for them as we were hoping to complete Jester's qualification for the regional finals in just his first 2 competitions back and he needed 8 points. Unfortunately the first Novice class was cancelled as the judge couldn't get there and they couldn't get a replacement - expect they were all at Sparsholt for teh Pet Plan festival - so they only had the N38Q to do. but he got a great score of +70% in there so got 6 of the 8 needed and that makes 12 in qualifiers, so just one more class to go! I myself was judging some unaffiliated at Moreton so couldn't be there but a great photo from Nicci Hill!
