We would like to say a huge “thank you” to the Our Lady of Angels social committee who raised a whopping £4,500 at their annual “May Ball” fundraiser! This will make an incredible difference to the care we are able to provide to local people and their families at a very difficult time in their lives. Thank you so much to everyone involved.

And we're off! We are pleased to announce the official launch of Repurpose - Transforming Pre-Loved Items. This is a workshop and shop based at Nathan Way Reuse and Recycling Centre in Greenwich, where all money raised goes to support the Hospice's work. The Mayor of Greenwich, Cllr Mick Hayes, did us the honour of cutting the ribbon (with a set of pre-loved garden shears - easier said than done!). Thanks to everyone who has worked so hard over the days, weeks, months, and beyond to make this a successful launch.
We are on the look out for people to come join us in the workshop to bring pre-loved items back to life.

Jenny has worked in the Housekeeping team at the Hospice for the last 3 years. She has always had a great fear of heights and falling, but having met so many patients and families at the Hospice has decided the time has come to face her fears head on to raise some vital funds by taking on an incredible challenge. She has signed up to abseil the ArcelorMittal Orbit, the UK’s tallest sculpture – 262 feet high with 20 mile views! This isn’t an easy challenge… hanging 80 metres above the ground, but what an achievement it will be! We think you’re amazing Jenny. Thank you!
If you’d like to join Jenny and our team of abseilers – here’s all the information you need:

Could you spare a little of your time with us to volunteer with us?
Our volunteers are amazing! Whether they spend a couple of hours a week serving in one of our charity shops, a morning a week helping on reception, or marshal at one of our events, we couldn't do what we do without them!
They have plenty to smile about too - the opportunity to meet new people, experience that gives them new skills and enhances CVs, and in many cases increased well-being too.
... We'd love to discuss our volunteering roles with you!

Carine from Selco Builders Warehouse paid us a visit today to officially celebrate that we have won the Selco's Stars competition. Over the past weeks people have been voting for their favourite local charity and we're delighted (and rather proud) to say that we came out in top position!
The grant will be go towards installing a path from the car park down to our gardens. At the moment it's not easy (even for a mountain goat) to navigate this path, so having easy access to the gardens will be fantastic for all.
Thank you Selco, and thank you to everyone who voted for us. We're delighted and a little humbled!

Volunteer in the Spotlight
As part of National Volunteers' Week, we're shining a light on some of our volunteers that help make the Hospice what it is.
Today's spotlight is on Mick, a volunteer minibus driver who ferries Day Hospice patients to and from the Hospice.
... Here's a video of Mick telling us what the Hospice means to him and why he volunteers.

Never underestimate your ability to change someone's life for the better.
Our volunteers aren't just amazing ambassadors for Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice, what they do touches the lives of all our patients and families.
This is national Volunteers' Week (1-7 June) so we want to send an extra big cheer to all our dedicated 'Local Heroes' who give their time and skills unpaid to help our care go further in their community.
... That's over 400 volunteers across our charity, from our Compassionate Neighbours in Greenwich & Bexley, to our shop assistants serving though-out our network of 17 shops, to our growing team of Makers who are based at our brand new project, Repurpose - Transforming Pre-Loved Items, to the wonderful team of drivers who help ferry people to the Day Hospice, to those who make the Day Hospice such a great place to be, and much much more!
A diverse team who share our values of collaboration, professionalism, and respect.
We'd love to have you on board too! http://bit.ly/2WkBnUF
