The Cafe at Griffin’s Yard is for sale! We have had 9 lovely years of establishing and running this successful and busy market town cafe, but are now looking to slow down and take things a bit easier (we’re getting old!) and concentrate our time exclusively on the shop. This is a great opportunity for someone to take over the cafe and make it their own!
For those who aren’t familiar with South Molton, named the ‘Gateway to Exmoo...r’, it’s a traditional Devon market town popular with tourists to explore the surrounding area. It has a pretty town square, busy local produce markets on Thursdays and Saturdays, a wide range of independent boutique shops and a programme of events and celebrations throughout the year.
We established the cafe in 2010 as a complementary addition to the shop, due to an increasing demand for more space to meet for coffee, tea, cakes and lunches. It now serves returning customers and visitors alike with homemade soups, quiches, salads, savouries, sandwiches and cakes, both eat in and takeaway.
The cafe has seating for 40 covers, with a first floor gallery providing a popular area for meetings and clubs, as well as outside tables and chairs with space for a further 8 people. There are 9 customer parking bays, plus a separate area for staff parking and a delivery bay.
The cafe opens from 9am - 4pm, Monday to Saturday. The cafe and kitchen is fully equipped with:
• New convection oven • Induction cooker • Microwave • Coffee grinder & Iberital 2-group espresso machine • Double sink and drainer • Tables, chairs and a sofa • Crockery, cutlery, kitchen equipment • 2 large display fridges for salads, savouries and cakes • A walk-in chill room which is shared with the shop
This is an amazing opportunity for someone to take on the cafe which is currently trading very successfully. The shop and cafe complement each other and enhance the Griffin’s Yard experience! We set up the cafe and have run it successfully for 9 years, so any help and advice will be willingly given at any time, we will we working next door in the shop!

We are still OPEN all this week as normal despite the road closure in North Road. You can still drive to the shop and park in the carpark - just approach from the town end and drive past the cones and you're here!
