Farewell Water Rising. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to show so much beautiful thoughtful work. It has stimulated many conversations about what we have to face, that we need to learn how to live better with water & studying the work of these artists really helps us to confront some of the challenges. I have loved all my exhibitions for those reasons that they have been great for thinking in stunning company. So as with all the others it is just farewell not goodbye a...nd there will be new life on the gallery’s forthcoming new website ( this month’s task is to edit it all- eek) #waterrising #waterrisingmay #artandenvironment @peter_matthews_artist @lisson_gallery @annieturnersuffolk @stewarthearn @sophiemarritt @rogercoulam @lynndennison @discoverkingslynn @love_west_norfolk @amandakdenison @judymccaig @msj.jewellery @ Groundwork Gallery

Very happy to be living with Water Rising - the exhibition that is. I guess we are all living with the phenomenon of ever-rising water levels. The art helps us envisage and plan for its consequences - in positive and creative ways. Much to admire and celebrate - and be just a bit worried about. Come and visit and talk about it. And come to the conference on 17th May and help to think about what we can do.

Here is the result of Sarah Caputo’s garden archaeology project in our pop up exhibit yesterday. Fascinating, and lots of potential for all kinds of spin-off projects, so we plan to do more. #gardenarchaeology #archaeology #sarahcaputo #soil #finds #dereham @love_west_norfolk

Work in progress at GroundWork Gallery this week - artist Sarah Caputo's pop-up exploration of her garden archaeology takes spectacular shape. Inspired by discussions with a museum archaeologist, she had dug a metre cube of earth as a test pit in her garden in Dereham. She asked if she could borrow the gallery during its closed period to lay out her finds. Well, who would have thought ordinary rubbish could be so beautiful? We are all inspired to pursue this idea further in f...uture. Tomorrow Sarah will rearrange the finds into a different format.
On Friday afternoon, 25 January we have an open house from 2 till 6 to share the results. Come along and share a drink and chat and help us think how to take this idea forward - lots of potential for more artistic archaeology. If you want an extra treat, stay-over and book the Penthouse via mail@groundworkgallery.com for the night or weekend afterwards!!!

Come to this unmissable event on 30 November. Find out about the latest theories about how we understand the earth as artists and scientists, and how we are forming a layer of plastic as part of the next geological era.....It will be held at one of King's Lynn's superb historic venues, and there will be a lovely healthy home-made lunch included...
