Sessions on Sat 11am, Sun 2pm, Weds 6pm (until the end of October). 2 hours long. Follow the signpost at the end of Scott Ave! Wear boots /wellies, dress for the weather, bring gardening gloves! Regular commitment or drop in welcome!
Grow For It! - Scott Avenue Allotment Community Plot - Chorlton Description
"Grow For It" is developing part of Scott Avenue Allotment to make it an accessible, attractive and functional area for a variety of community plot activities. A healthy pastime, an opportunity to learn about horticulture and become part of allotment life, a place to meet new friends.
Over the past 2 years we have developed a growing area, and erected a polytunnel, we've designed and are building a shed with a living roof, we're creating paths, building raised beds for vegetables and have a sensory flower border and an orchard of fruit trees. At the end of May 2011 the Apiary welcomed 3 colonies of bees. The plot is constantly developing and there are always a variety of jobs to get stuck in to at each session.
We organize social events on the plot, which are attended by the volunteers and local community and welcome school groups to visit and learn about allotments and growing.
We would like to link up with community groups & other organisations interested in helping out, becoming involved or providing support and advice.
