The High this morning. On the right The Queen's College, 1341, after Queen Philippa, wife of Edward III. On the left University College ("Univ"), the oldest college 1249. The spire is St Mary's. Plus the Radcliffe Camera through the church window.

Ha. Sitting across from Tom Hammond-Davies of @oxfordbachsoloists. They're off to Stratford to sing at the literary festival. Wonderful world class choir.

She did turn it into one of her fab paintings.

What a great review! Thanks Belinda!

No apologies for another photo of the lovely wisteria in Jesus 2nd Quad, with students this time, taken by my equally lovely artist friend www.facebook.com/CarolannWakefieldArtist/ who I hope is going to turn it into one of her fab paintings...?

This is Parson's Pleasure on the River Cherwell in Oxford. It's where punters go over the rollers to the lower reaches of the river. In a joint production with @smokeandthyme we'll be running punting picnics nearby including a Wind in the Willows wonder picnic and specially for families a Mad Hatter's Tea Party. Watch this space!

So #Oxford won. 1829 this amazing sporting event started. What a fabulous English Spring evening by the Thames in London. Quintessential.

On this day 1556 Archbishop Thomas Cranmer was burnt at the stake here in Broad Street, Oxford. Queen Mary ordered it, no wonder her nickname was Bloody, as she was responsible for the execution of 280 Protestants, 60 of them women, in her short 5 year reign.
That's the Archbishop at the top of the Martyrs' Memorial. The wreath was laid today by the Prayer Book Society.
The X in the road marks the actual spot where the immolation took place. You can make out the plaque on the... wall of Balliol College commemorating the event.
In those days it was outside the city walls - you didn't want to do your burning inside, it was a gruesome smelly messy business according to eye witness accounts.

Lucky sunny break during a rainy Oxford day yesterday. We're inside New College. Not that new as it was founded in 1379 by the Bishop of Winchester. It's the model for all Oxford colleges after.
That's the chapel behind the magnolia, and the stairs in the corner lead up to the dining hall.
The cloisters were the setting for a scene from Harry Potter The Goblet of Fire where Malfoy is turned into a ferret. Ferrets are only allowed to work a maximum of 3 continuous hours so t...he film company used two!
The tower is the bell tower.

Disability is just not an issue at Jesus College. This lift provides access to the 400-year-old Dining Hall, built in the early 1600s. Btw the lady wheelchair user didn't want to be photographed.

Fabulous light on the Radcliffe Camera, St Mary's, Brasenose College, and Exeter College Fellows' Garden this afternoon. Seen from the Divinity School in the Bodleian Library during a tour with a delightful Brazilian couple, Alfredo Moura and Isis.
