Those present at Gander Green Lane were treated to a real thriller when City defended like lions with 10 men after Dan Stewart was shown a red card after just 28 minutes. SCR dominated possession and territory throughout the match, but time after time they were left frustrated by a brilliant defensive effort. Granted City rode their luck at times and SCR will feel they should have taken something from the game. [ 70 more words ] http://guildfordcityfc.co.uk/…/sutton-c ommon-rovers-3-guil…/

Guildford City (0) 4, Balham (0) 0 by Harry Vidgen Guildford City were looking to bounce back after losing their three previous games. Mark Watkins and Stefan Joseph signed from Redhill started the game as Chris Balchin scrambles to sign players prior to the transfer deadline. Guildford started brightly as just nine minutes in, Nemo Adams, who played this game in centre midfield, tussled his way through the midfield and hit a looped ball to Stefan Joseph who’s unfortunate first time volley sailed well wide of the goal. Badshot Lea (1) 3, Guildford City (0) 0 by Barry Underwood Despite a whole-hearted performance Guildford City’s run of poor results continued at Krooner Park going down by three goals to a resurgent Badshot Lea side. There was little between the sides in the opening half. The only difference being a late defensive error that saw the home nudge ahead on 40 minutes. Due to Godalming playing at home on Saturday the 30th March our fixture against Balham will now be played at Horley Town. We thank our friends Horley Town, Godalming Town and Westfield for their kindness in allowing us to play at their homes this season. http://guildfordcityfc.co.uk/…/city-to- play-at-horley-town…/

Guildford City (1) 1, Banstead Athletic (0) 2 by Barry Underwood For much of the match this encounter between two top six sides was a tight affair with few clear chances on goal. That it should be decided by an unfortunate own goal with the last kick of the match was a real kick in the teeth for the City players who had given everything for the cause. Guildford City (0) 0, Horley Town (1) 1 by Harry Vidgen There had been no game midweek so Guildford had been given a break before this game, but there were few signs of their injury crisis subsiding with both Nemo Adams and Tom Griffin dropping out on the day through illness, to add to the five other senior players missing through injury. Guildford City made it two wins on the bounce as Chris Balchin's men won 4-3 against visitors CB Hounslow United. City made the perfect start with captain Nemo Adams scoring early and Kyen Nicholas doubling the score with a delightful backheel. Despite losing both defender Billy Irving and goalscorer Kyen Nicholas it was almost a perfect first half with substitute Tom Griffin rounding the keeper and almost making it 3-0 before a CB Hounslow defender got back and blocked the shot. 131 more words [ 115 more words ] http://guildfordcityfc.co.uk/…/guildfor d-city-4-cb-hounslo…/

Guildford City (2) 4, CB Hounslow United (0) 3 by Harry Vidgen Guildford started this game well on top, clearly re-energised after their win in midweek. In just the first minute, Billy Irving took a throw in and found Kyen Nicholas in the box but his shot was blocked. Luke Beale then tried his luck but his shot was also blocked as the Hounslow United defence scrambled to clear their lines. 545 more words [ 508 more words ] http://guildfordcityfc.co.uk/…/guildfor d-city-4-cb-hounslo…/

Hanworth Villa (0) 0, Guildford City (0) 1 by Barry Underwood After a desperate four match losing run, Guildford got back on track last evening at Rectory Meadow against a spirited Hanworth side who are battling towards the foot of the table. With three regulars already missing due to suspension and injury, Guildford were hit further prior to kick-off with Bobby Webbe and Kyen Nicholas also withdrawing due to injury. Spelthorne Sports (1) 3, Guildford City (1) 1 by Harry Vidgen Guildford City had dipped out of form going into this game, losing two on the bounce to Walton & Hersham and AFC Hayes. Kiye Martin and Dan Stewart returned to the club temporarily as part of an attempt to bolster up the midfield, an area for Guildford that had been weak in recent games. Guildford City (0) 1, AFC Hayes (2) 4 by Harry Vidgen After an unfortunate loss the weekend before, Guildford City looked set to bounce back as they started the game brightly. Eli Ogunseye and Kyen Nicholas linked up brilliantly in the early stages of the match. As early as the third minute, Kyen Nicholas was put through on goal but his shot ended up being a tame one and it was easily gathered by the opposing keeper. Guildford City (1) 3, Walton & Hersham (1) 4 by Harry Vidgen Guildford City were looking to build on their hard fought win against Cobham last time out going into this game. Both sides started brightly with chances for both sides early on. Bobby Webbe’s cross-field ball was picked out of the sky brilliantly by Nathaniel Williams and he hooked a cross into the box that was just too high for Kyen Nicholas. Guildford City (2) 2, Cobham (1) 1 by Barry Underwood Sometimes you lose a match that you deserved to win. On other occasions you win a match that might well have gone the other way! This clash against Cobham at Wey Court was of the latter variety. It was a match with thrills, spills, controversy and a wonder goal. It was also a tetchy match that finished with Guildford having only nine players on the field following red cards for Nemo Adams and Dan Band. Redhill (0) 2, Guildford City (1) 1 by Barry Underwood Guildford deservedly led at the interval after a composed first-half performance. The second period though was another matter. The home side came out of the traps in more determined fashion, and eventually Guildford imploded in ungainly fashion as some controversial refereeing decisions got to them badly, and amidst much whistle and a flurry of bookings there seemed to be very little actual football played in the late stages. Guildford City (0) 3, Hanworth Villa (0) 0 by Harry Vidgen Spirits were running high going into this match as Guildford City were enjoying an impressive run of form. The starting line-up saw three changes with Isy Nzelo , Dan Band and Nathaniel Williams all starting. The game started with a high level of intensity and it continued in that fashion throughout. Cobham (0) 0, Guildford City (2) 2 by Barry Underwood Guildford City bounced back from two consecutive defeats with an impressive performance at the Leg o’ Mutton Field on Saturday. Right from the off the visitor’s took command, and with Dan Band and Theo Woodhouse re-united in midfield Guildford bossed the majority of the game, and if City’s finishing had been a little sharper the victory would have been more emphatic. Coming off the back of two defeats City travelled to Cobham as Chris Balchin and the team looked to get back to winning ways. The match saw the powerful midfield pairing of Theo Woodhouse and Daniel Band return, as well as a tactical shift from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3 with Bobby Webbe pushed up to the number 10 position behind City top scorer Kyen Nicholas.
