Fender Blues Deluxe, new speaker and input jack fitted, transformer tapped for 240V. Check out how the ceramic resistors were toasting.

Fender KXR Keyboard amp, I bought this non working some time ago, really should have taken it down to the tip. This is the definition of beyond economical repair, has taken 4 power transistors, 4 emitter resistors, 4 power diodes, 2 zeneers, 2 small signal diodes and a few hours of my time. At least I can now take it to the tip safe in the knowledge that it is working.

Nice US made Fender Blues Deluxe with blown speaker. Looks like someone has been having a go at the present speaker with araldite!? Customer wants an Eminence Cannabis Rex as a replacement, unusual name for a speaker. Think this will need a few weeks of thorough testing with a number of different guitars ; )

Ampeg BA 115 bass combo, ripple on one of the supply rails, failed smoothing capacitor.

Interesting Farfisa TR 70 OS keyboard amp with "Sfera Sound" rotary speaker emulation.

Jennings Univox speaker and amplifier with loose Hunts cathode bypass capacitor, tests OK, but tend to replace anything with Hunts written on it.

User

Got to have a go at playing Telstar on a Jennings Univox, no matter how ham fisted

Reggae sound-system mixer, interesting and mysterious bit of kit, in for a service.

Sony MDR7506 headphones, ordered a replacement diaphragm from China and it took only a week to arrive. I like the sound of these.

User

My Peavey Classic 30, something loose somewhere. Why did someone at Peavey think it was a good idea to cut the pcb into 3 pieces and join them at right angles

Stuck keys repair to a Yamaha piano

I should be decorating but RS sent me some nice power transistors so I had to nip upstairs to put them in. 2nd pic shows voltage coming up slowly on variac and a bit of sniffing and poking to make sure i haven't missed anything else that is short. Then finally the sine wave of truth.

User

Original Italian made Cry Baby Super with a broken pot shaft, repaired with a pot from a Hill Audio desk that I sadly broke for parts.

Back on the Blues Junior, I couldn't work out the transformer wiring and eventually realised someone had been in it before and fitted a 3 position standby switch. The mains neutral was permanently connected and not switched as on the circuit diagram. Pictures show before and after with the transformer now tapped for 240v instead of 230v. 3rd pic shows a pre-set potentiometer so that the bias voltage can be altered. Now running cooler, with longer valve life.

I bought a full octave of Roland keys for my SH101 to replace the broken ones. The new keys are very white and look a bit out of place but work well, they were from a Jupiter 8. Strangely the replaced keys are polyphonic, amazing! ; )

User

I bought this really nice Blues Junior with upgraded Celestion Vintage series speaker. Doesn't seem to be running as hot as other Juniors I've seen, trying to work out how the transformer is tapped, doesn't quite match the schematic.

User

Check the size of the transformer on that! Quad 405 Mk2 bit of class. Driver transistor short on one side.

User

Tim was really friendly, quick and efficient. Recommend for sure! Sussed out the problem while I waited, told me exactly how to fix it and charged a really reasonable rate. I'll go back!

User

Tim diagnosed and repaired my amp. Quick and friendly service.

User

Impressive work from Tim Amp Doctor. Top marks for taking on a fiddly repair on my veteran amp. His inventive solution was complemented by re-soldering the speaker connections & sorting out the speaker phase. Expert service with a smile- 11/10!

User

Guitar Amp Doctor made me a bespoke footswitch so I can use both my theremin and bass guitar without having to stop, unplug, plug into the other instrument, every time I change from one to the other, within about a week of asking for it - there it was.

User

Great service, my EBS bass amp was sounding dreadful and kept crackling randomly mid gig. Tim serviced the amp for me really quickly and it's never sounded better! Highly recommended
