Scaffolding has started to be erected around the main dome of the Gurdwara.
Over the years weathering and pollution had tarnished both the white finish the gold plated fixtures around the dome.
The dome will now be repaired to bring it back to its original majestic gleam. The new technology in materials will help maintain its longevity.
... Did you know?
The main dome is a concrete structure it is made up of an incredible 40 tonne of concrete. It has 4 large domes on each corner made up of 12 sections, 7 small domes on each of its 4 sides made up of 6 sections, 16 segment plates around the lower parts of the dome, 80 rib plates to create the segments and a main finial which is over 3 meters tall and weighs more than 50kg!
The dome itself has been modelled upon the dome of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib, Amritsar, Punjab.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh (The Khalsa belongs to the Almighty Lord, Victory belongs to the Almighty Lord)
It is Sangrand today. Sangrand is the beginning of a new month in the Sikh Nanakshahi calendar (so make sure you come to the Gurdwara Sahib to seek blessings of the Guru).
... Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji blesses us with the following Hukamnama (Edict) for this month:
HUKAMNAMA FOR THE MONTH OF BHAADON
Friday, 1st Bhaadon (Samvat 550 Nanakshahi)
English Translation:
BAARAH MAAHAA ~ THE TWELVE MONTHS: MAAJH, FIFTH MEHL, FOURTH HOUSE: ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU:
In the month of Bhaadon, she is deluded by doubt, because of her attachment to duality. She may wear thousands of ornaments, but they are of no use at all. On that day when the body perishes-at that time, she becomes a ghost. The Messenger of Death seizes and holds her, and does not tell anyone his secret. And her loved ones-in an instant, they move on, leaving her all alone. She wrings her hands, her body writhes in pain, and she turns from black to white. As she has planted, so does she harvest; such is the field of karma. Nanak seeks God’s Sanctuary; God has given him the Boat of His Feet. Those who love the Guru, the Protector and Savior, in Bhaadon, shall not be thrown down into hell. || 7 ||
Friday, 1st Bhaadon (Samvat 550 Nanakshahi)

May Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji bless the everyone with happiness, good health and prosperity.
All Diwaans today will be held in the Darbar Sahib 4.
Please note: there will be a Gurmat Sangeet Darbar held on Saturday 18th August 2018 from 6:30pm onwards in the first floor main Darbar Sahib.

This was the first Gurdware in Birmingham Smethwick opened in 1963

The very first building was bought for some £6k in 1963 with the people's money and hand out & donates

Lots of money Was collected from foundries & factories while people were paid on Friday in cash

This was once said, it was our Gurdware ( meaning people's belongs to every one )

There were Four people ( I mean persons ) who first started the Gurudware @ the school next to the Becon cinema

Were we all use to get to greater on Sunday morning

That's how this building was bought

Those for person names should not be forgotten
