International Security Training Qualifications (ISTQ) Close Protection Training is known for its realistic approach and dynamic delivery by world class experts from some of the worlds most revered Protective Security Agencies and Training Providers.
Close Protection training courses offered by ISTQ, are now available in South-Africa several times each year and also upon request anywhere in the world for groups or official agencies.
The Security Industry Authority (SIA) Has Set the Guidelines and Standards intended for official Close Protection Training in the UK.
In March 2006 it became the law that you must have a license to work in Close Protection operations. For you to obtain a license you must complete and pass a course that is compliant with the specifications as laid down by the SIA.
The course covers both theoretical and practical exercises and covers the 3 elements of planning, briefing and execution including a one day introduction to Etiquette. The Examination Body for this program is HABC (Highfield awarding body for compliance).
This qualification will allow you to apply for your SIA license in Close Protection which will enable you to work anywhere in the world within the Close Protection Industry. This course is taught by fully trained and experienced Close Protection Officers within the industry, and willing to aid you to progress into the Close Protection field.

CLOSE PROTECTION OFFICER: LEVEL 3
The course is 17 days in duration and is a combination of classroom and practical exercises. It is a rigorous course and all sections of the course must be completed to permit you to be valid for your SIA license.

If you pass the course you will obtain a Certificate in Protective Security from our awarding body HABC this accompanied with a First Aid at Work Qualification will allow you to apply to the Security Industry Authority for a Front Line Close Protection License and employment.
The SIA (Security Industry Authority) is a UK Government body that was started in 2004 to oversee the security industry. The SIA have two main purposes, one of which is to licence Security Officers. This is done by sector and being a Close Protection Officer is subject to this requirement.
To gain a licence to work in Close Protection you are required to complete a minimum 14 day Close Protection Course and hold a First Aid at Work qualification. At the end of the course you will have to take and pass an exam in order to apply for your Close Protection Licence. Subject to your application being approved, you will then get you SIA Close Protection Licence. Close Protection courses are a minimum of 150 hours and cover core competencies as set out by the SIA.
By training with ISTQ you are being trained to an approved standard by an approved company. We will deliver to you the required necessary skills as stipulated by the British Security Industry Authority (SIA) which is the regulatory body that after training you will apply to if you require a British license. For International students it will be entirely up to you if you wish to apply for a British license or not.
However, this standard goes far beyond the British Isles and for non UK residents this standard and the quality of training is becoming more recognized in many other countries.
