We finally met the Artist Leigh Lambert today
Great artist and all staff were very helpful with our queries and purchases from today event
Thanks to all and Leigh Lambert for his talent.
Visited for the first time today. The staff are happy to help and leave you to browse. A little cross with myself as I left a Torquay tub on the shelf when I should have purchased it. Lovely gallery with some excellent pieces
Stunning!! Absolutely incredible artwork and lovely customer service!
Once again the staff have proved what customer services is all about, we have bought several prints from the shop before and today we went in, and with their help we have come up with two more framed prints, which we can't wait to hang in our newly refurbished Bar. Thanks guys. Look out for your invite to the reopening ;)
Lovely gallery and helpful, informative staff. Would have loved to have purchased several pieces
Great place, always topical and interesting items for sale and excellent customer service. How lucky are we to have this gallery on our doorstep!
Great gallery and Fiona is incredibly helpful and friendly, excellent selection of pictures
Fab shop and friendly helpful staff. They have an excellent array of art and the best feature of Edge sculptures, which is our favourite to collect.
I have made several purchases of original artwork from the gallery over the past few years including a statement piece by Chris De Rubeis which has received extremely positive comments from visitors to my home. I have recently been looking to purchase further works by the artist and so called into the gallery a few days ago, I was approached by an assistant who spoke positively about the artist and highlighted other artists that I might also be interested in she also gave me some background information about other local artists. I was allowed to photograph some of the works in order to help me decide which pieces to choose. I left with nothing but warm feelings about the gallery and said I would return later in the week.
I returned to the gallery today with a friend who is visually impaired. We spent a few minutes appraising the artwork and had decided to purchase one, perhaps two further pieces of Chris De Rubeis work, we were also interested in Roz Bell’s artwork and a few other pieces. Whilst deciding we were shocked to be shouted at by a man from the other side of the gallery, he bellowed ‘Don’t touch the artwork’ we were stunned by his unpleasant tone. A torrid of shouting continued and totally shocked we decided to leave. Before we left we approached the man at the counter and politely pointed out to him how his unpleasant tone was uncalled for. Shouting across the gallery floor is rude and unprofessional behaviour and given that he was aware that the person he was shouting at was visually impaired it was totally unacceptable. Initially he apologised but what followed from another staff member (Fiona the owner!!) was further raised voices and unrelated excuses for the staff members behaviour highlighting personal problems as a cause for his unprofessional behaviour she went on to make excuses about issues with debt collectors and other personal issues. All of this was totally unnecessary and the situation was so poorly handled by the gallery owners.
The service received previously has been second to none and has always left us with the desire to support local businesses but with such poor service we shall no longer be purchasing art form Haddon Galleries. As we left it was pointed out to us by the assistant that many of the artists who are represented by the gallery are also available online from other companies which we will favour in the future along with other local galleries near by like Triton Galleries who have always been supportive of disabled customers by for example, arranging close up viewings in the gallery, pre-launch viewings and have a marvellous view at home service.
Such a shame we can no longer support Haddon Galleries.
