Read some reviews on here earlier talking about bad customer service. Well either that was many years ago or they're talking about the wrong place as customer service was absolutely brilliant! Staff are extremely helpful and technically sound, from Harry on the shop floor, Dan the manager and John the fitter, my experience was great - thank you guys! 10/10

Traded in two bikes for folding bikes. A member of staff helped us choose the right model and took their time until we were good to go! There was a few days waiting time for the spec we wanted. The trading in scheme was put in place to aid the Third World which is a great idea.

Appalling customer service. Brought a £200 bike from the store for my young daughter. The initial paper work was not correctly completed. Then the first service was useless as the bike chains kept slipping. Then on making call to them they were very arrogant especially the manager. But the guys on the car maintenance side could not be faulted as they do try and help. The bike side of halfords new malden might as well not be there!! I have ended up going to a different branch even though it's further away as the service is much better elsewhere.

Good quality bikes. Some staff are enthusiastic and very helpful

Bought a new bike. Great service (from 'Connor') would definitely go there again!

AVOID.

I have been having a totally appalling ongoing customer service experience .

12th – 21st of January I was left waiting for a “Silver Service” to be completed. After being told by a mechanic on the 12th that the replacement part had been ordered and should be delivered the following day (if not, latest on the 14th) and should be ready to be picked up on the 16th.

From the 16th to the 20th of January I was getting calls every day saying my bike was ready, and when I went into the store they said it wasn't (4 times I went into the store to be told it was not ready).

On the 20th of January I received a call from Halfords to say my bike was ready, I went into the store and the man at the desk (bike section) said that the bike was ready. The replacement part had not been fitted, the brake pads had not been replaced and the bike was dirty. Seb and Richard profusely apologised and said that they would upgrade me to a Gold service for free and fit the parts, and I could collect the bike the following day (21st of January).

On the 21st of January I collected my bike which at first glance appeared to have been fixed.

25th of January – after two rides my gear cable came lose in the middle of a 10 mile bike ride. I took the bike back to Halfords immediately and explained the situation from when I first brought the bike in to be checked. The on-duty mechanic looked at the bike It turned out that the ball bearings in my front and back wheels were worn down, and that no mechanic prior to this had mentioned to me that there was an issue with my wheels

On the 25th of January The mechanic also pointed out to me that the wheels that Steve recommended (although very good tires) were actually too big for the frame of the bike, and when it was in the lowest gear the tyre would rub against the gear shift

The mechanic also said that although the bike might last a month, he would recommend purchasing a new one immediately (over £200 today because they have a sale)because it would continue to deteriorate if I rode 10 miles a day on it.

It is clear that a Gold or Silver service was not completed, because if it had been completed something would have been mentioned about the ball bearings in my wheels being in bad condition. I highly doubt that the bike was stripped down.

I am now £90 out of pocket, with a bike that has not been properly serviced, stripped down nor has the right tires. I was told that it might last six weeks but that it was doubtful.

It is wholly unacceptable to keep someone waiting this long for a service on a bike, and also to let a customer take a bike out of a store under the assumption that it has been fixed, when in fact it is dangerous to ride and has the wrong tyres fitted to it and a gear cable that comes loose after one ride.

I would have spent over £160 on this bike only to be let down and be riding a dangerous bike.

0/10 for customer service
0/10 for knowledge
