Not a bad place now, much improved on what it used to be like. Staff helpful and, in the main, knowledgeable. Good range of stock. As ever with Halfords though, it's pricey in store.

Even though they were quite busy the woman serving us was very helpful and gave good advice about what books to choose.

Visit 1...Purchased a sat nav for my husbands birthday at a cost of £149.99. Cashier somehow managed to charge me for 2 sat navs at a cost of £299.98 then promptly processed a return for £149.99. This seems all well and good no harm done except I am on a very tight budget and calculate to the penny how much funds versus how many direct debits I have and it so happened that there was just enuf to purchase the sat nav and leave funds to pay my council tax bill due out the next day. This caused me untold stress as I work in retail and know that refunds can take up to 5 days to re appear in the bank. To avoid an overdrawn charge my daughter had to electronically transfer £150 to my account to cover my council tax shud the refund not be processed in time. Not one to grumble usually but the assistant was very casual about her mistake as though £150 was nothing. Not impressed.

Visit 2... Two days after I went in halfords to pick up a reserved sat nav dashboard pad and to get the brake light bulb replaced on my daughters car as a thank you for helping me out of my sticky situation. THE SAME ASSISTANT sold me a twin pack of bulbs £2.99 after taking car details make model registration and organised a fitter to replace sed bulb at a cost of £5. Bargain NOT! After 20 mins the fitter advised me that it wasn't a bulb but probably a fuse or electrical problem and to take it to a garage and it cud cost £80. NONSENSE! I took it to my local garage who told me I had been sold the WRONG BULBS and promptly fitted the correct brake light bulb for £6.

Needless to say I will not be recommending this branch nor visiting it again anytime soon! If I cud give minus stars I most deffinately would.
