Slightly confusing layout of store, associated items such as brake fluid and brake pads located at opposite sides of the store, this theme seems to be repeated for everything.
Emphasis on reference computers and flip books for you to locate correct parts leaves you feeling there is no one with experience working within store.

Quick & efficient, they supplied & fitted 3 new wiper blades to my car in 10 mins, I know I could have done it myself but I didn't want to get my hands dirty!

When you eventually find someone in this incredibly short staffed store to help they are always polite, and helpful especially the cycle guys who will often go the extra mile for you and that is a rare thing.(not on a Saturday though go during the week!)- cannot fault. However the fundamental issue is staff or lack thereof. Those staff that are about are usually busy dealing with someone else. Fully appreciate that stores get busy and sometimes one has to wait however there is waiting and there is losing the will to live which after 30 minutes or so is usually what happens. This is not necessarily the fault of the staff it is down to poor management and planning needs to be sorted.

Brought my wife a new entry level hybrid bike. The staff at Halfords Chelmsford are very friendly and helpful. When its busy you can be waiting a fair amount of time to get spoken to so pick a quiet day!

Got given the wrong wiper blades 3 times in a row. The workforce there rely on a computer system which tells them which parts fit the corresponding vehicle and somehow still manage to cock up.

They then offered to fit the blades for £5... to which I declined. I fitted them myself onsite in the pouring rain with ease.
