Halfords Autocentre

Avoid this autocentre. I booked the time slot online, but still had to wait 3 hours to have two front tyres changed. I came back home to find out both are fitted wrong even if on the side of tyre was written the rotation and arrows showing which way to fit.

If I could leave no stars I would.

I have never had such poor service and arrogant behaviour from a garage in my life. I have used Halfords over the last 6 years to service and mot all my cars and my wife's cars but never, never again. The garage used to be run well but now it is full of lazy dirty arrogant slobs who have zero pride in their work or appearance.

Firstly I was booked in on the wrong day with no apologies from the "manager", then when I did finally get the car booked in, was told they wouldn't be able complete the service as parts may not be available. As it happens they couldn't do it because they couldn't get the wheels off! The locking wheel nut key was "worn". As Halfords are the only garage to touch those locking wheel nuts it must have been them that mangled them.

So I've been charged £ 289 for a "Full" service where they could not even take the wheels off to check brakes etc. I did ask them to put new tyres on too. They did not cancel the service light and they left the interior of the car filthy. I had to buy wet wipes to wipe down all the controls before I could drive it! Every control in the car had been altered, fog lights out on radio presets altered clock altered.

Thanks Halfords. You'll never see me or my vehicles again. There are more deserving establishments that take a pride in their work.

Booked car in for 8:30am for a diagnostics test - waited nearby for an hour as I was told it would take about an hour. When it should have been completed, I was told that they hadn't even got to my car yet and i'd have to wait due to only booking in the previous day. The guy on the front desk seemed agitated whenever I called, and disinterested both when dropping the car off and picking it up. The only reason i'm giving it 2 stars is because of the kind guy that re-scanned my car free of charge to clear the same faults that they'd cleared a few hours prior. I was also charged £10 to fit two fuses in my car, but because the guy couldn't find the fuse box after about half an hour (whilst ignoring me when I told him the fuse was in a certain place), left it and yet I was still charged for this. All in all, I would say it wasn't the best experience and I don't think i'll be going there again for fuses or diagnostics.

Excellent service. I have taken my car here for years and have always been very happy with everything.

Good welcome, efficient service at the best price - what more can you ask? Only minor niggle for Halfords - when you order tyres online they take your email address but then don't use it to confirm tyres are available before travelling. We had to phone to check. Otherwise very good service.

Generally very happy with Halfords Autocentre staff & service. Have been using them for years now & still keep returning.

Very thorough and good value for money.

Fitted the tyre and badly damaged the alloy wheel in the process. No apology and I now have to arrange the repair, with the repairer who is too busy, although they have agreed to pay for it.

Had two tyres fitted very guickly (less than 30mins from driving in to driving out) and at a very reasonable price. Courteous and efficient staff with no harrasment for extra work. Well done Halfords Barrow!
