Staff very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay there again. The rooms are a little tired but everything was clean. Good location near the railway station.

This is a review for The Westminster Hotel, now Hallmark Hotels. I stayed for one evening, and was disappointed. There is no facility for evening meals, so had to go out to eat. The room was large but dated. No double glazing so traffic noise was noticeable. Would I stay here again? No.

I don't even know where to start with this hotel. The lady on reception was lovely when we arrived (around 21:30) and checked us all in. We walked into our hotel room and were instantly hit in the face with a smell of must. I wanted a cup of tea, there were no tea bags, no spoon, only one dirty mug and there was sugar or something splattered all over the serving tray - it was awful. I made a call to reception to ask for some towels at 22:00pm (how they didn't put fresh towels in I don't know) and for some teabags and we did receive them.

We checked the bed over and it had black (possibly pubic) hairs under the covers, the carpet had not been hoovered, the taps were all sticky. Argh the thought of staying there again horrifies me.

The room we stayed in seriously needs revamping, it smells really bad and the cleaning needs sorting out. I'd be ashamed to be advertising this hotel and Hallmark should be looking into these faults. I wouldn't stay again.

Room dingy, just nothing nice in there at all. ... Bathroom awful. Water did not drain away from sink. Rooms hot . I know this hotel is only 3 star but for £107.00 a night I would of expected more even if it is in the city. I won't stay there again just awful. Nice friendly staff especially the guy at breakfast.

Reception staff lovely and with good humour, breakfast very good and delicious. Hotel appearance and decor very interesting and cool. Room itself fine but no tea in room, drawers were broken, bare bulb in lamp holder with no shade, bulbs very low so couldn't brighten room well. An alarm went off in the middle of the night which is understandably not an every night occurance but was horrible. 4/5 stars. Was cheap and fine.

Nice place very helpful friendly staff. A bit dated but was a cheap break through groupon so can't complain. Not really suitable for wheelchair guests. I have mobility difficulties but only need a stick to get round but a lady I spoke to this morning her husband was in a wheelchair and they were having big problems because although there is a lift to all floors once on the floor there are places where you can only get to rooms by negotiating four or more steps.

The staff were fantastic, the problem was the materiel of the hotel itself. The room looked tired and we had a leak from the room above us which dripped onto our bed. We were offered a refund, however the staff shouldn't have been put in that situation.

User

Nice basic hotel but staff outstanding, went out of their way to help with the disability scooter, really made us feel special
