Please drop them in, regardless of the condition and age - they make use of what they can! We politely ask that you only bring spectacles, we cannot take in the cases as they add too much bulk and weight to the donation box.

Today is National Heterochromia Day! What is that, I hear you ask...
Heterochromia is a condition where each eye is a different colour, Jane Seymour has heterochromia as you can see from our picture.
It can also be partial with different coloured patches due to the concentration of pigment and some people have a different colour around the edge of the iris which may be noticeable against the pupil.
... A common misconceptionis that David Bowie had different coloured eyes. This effect was caused by his enlarged pupil and 'slack' iris muscle on one side giving the impression of a much darker eye - similar to when a balloon has been blown up, which may look red before you start and then pale pink once yopu've finished blowing it up - one iris (the coloured part) is pulled taut and the other is relaxed (You can see from the picture that both eyes are the same!)

What a great experience! Went to Hammond Optician expecting a high standard, so they had a lot to live up to! Wow! they more than exceeded my thoughts. Outstanding service and professionalism. The Staff are caring and listen to you. I was guided through new eye tests by Deven with such care and attention. My prescription is complex, but I left Hammond Opticians, feeling very positive, in that my Contact Lens have been upgraded to feel beautifully comfortable, and a new pair of glasses to be ordered very soon. Brilliant!! highly recommended.

I〙d recommend them to anybody who isn〙t quite satisfied with glasses or contacts.
