About Hand And Trumpet

Dog friendly pub serving great food and great beer all day!

Hand And Trumpet Description

The Hand and Trumpet is a decent sized pub, seating about 150, with classic old floors, rugs, open fires, books and old furniture. There’s a sizeable garden with a large pond, and we’ve built a deck out over the rear of the pub which overlooks the grounds. It’s a stunner when the sun comes out.

Say hello to the new kid on the block... Camden Town Pale Ale.
It’s a bright orange-gold colour and the body is subtle and clean. Punchy American hops throw out a big aroma of grapefruit, orange and tropical fruit. Perfect anytime, but especially when the sun pops out between the April showers.

Introducing the Orange Blossom! Just one of our new "Long Drinks" for you to try. Made with @chasedistillery Saville Orange Gin, @CointreauUK and lemonade. Garnished with candied orange and candied blood orange.
Perfect in the garden or on the deck when the sun's out! 🍊🌞

It always amazes us, in the space of only a few months, what a little lemon can do! Thank you to all who’ve played (and lost at) the ‘lemon game’ 👍 #allforagoodcause #itcanbedone #really #donnalouise

So, just a little recent news for you... on Saturday we had the pleasure of attending the Awards Ceremony for the local, Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough ‘Newcastle in Bloom’ competition.
It’s the first time we’ve put our gardens forward to be judged and I’m chuffed to announce that we won Silver!
Huge credit goes to Luke and the gardening team at the Trumpet who work hard to create & maintain an outside space enjoyed by all.
... Thank you to all the judges & organisers at the Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council for hosting such a great event... we’ll be going for Gold next year!!! 🏆

This weeks' "Gin of the Week" is the sophisticated Berkeley Square London Dry Gin.
Berkeley Square is the ‘single malt’ of the gin world. It's a mellow gin, with subdued notes of juniper and a distinct yet delicious herbal quality. Not only tasty in a G&T, it can count itself as one of those gins that would be great drunk neat over ice.
Part of the Quintessential Brands portfolio, Joanne Moore’s creation was inspired by the herbs of English gardens. By adding basil, sage, la...vender and kaffir lime leaves, she has successfully managed to add lightness and fresher herbaceous notes to the conventional gin base.
Enjoy Berkeley Square with your favourite Fever-tree tonic (we recommend their Mediterranean Tonic Water with this one!), garnished with lemon thyme, hand-picked from the garden.
Cheers!

This weeks' "Gin of the Week" is the gorgeous triple distilled, Pinkster Gin.
About Pinkster... A characterful, small-batch premium gin. We hand-steep fresh, locally grown raspberries in the core spirit at our HQ near Cambridge. Pinkster is deliciously dry, with gentle fruity notes and the smoothest of finishes.
Pithily described by The Observer: "Minimal bottle. Maximum flavour. Artisan gin with raspberries. Yum."
... Silver winner at International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC). Pinkster is the brainchild of a frustrated chartered accountant. He didn't set out to make a pink gin but worked his way through an entire fruit bowl before discovering that raspberries delivered the best flavour.
Enjoy it with your favourite Fever-tree tonic, garnished with fresh mint, hand-picked from the garden. Cheers!

My first Christmas meal last night

Exceptionally tasty...well presented, good selection of vegetables & such tasty turkey I was impressed...

My tip is unless you are ravenous....don’t have a starter as the portions are very generous...loved it...would definitely recommend this restaurant...think you’ll have to book though...we did...

User

Food and service exceptional! I recommend the black pudding starter, followed by the Guiness feathered beef and finish with the waffle and ice cream. I genuinely never thought food could taste so good!

User

Fabulous place, great food, friendly staff and a fantastic gin range

User

Excellent food in lovely surroundings. Sat by the lake in the sunshine and was served by very friendly, efficient staff. Could not ask for a better way to start the weekend.

User

Called in on way back from Alton Towers 09/07/17 not expecting to get a table let alone discover they served food on a Sunday evening - this comes from numerous pubs and other establishments being closed at 6:00pm or not serving food to prospective customers on a Sunday evening. Turns out they went out of their way to accommodate us. Fantastic food and fabulous service. Very highly recommended and this is part of a chain so plenty more other good restaurants/pubs are also part of this family. A++++

User

All went for the fish and chips and all thoroughly enjoyed

Staff attentive and courteous

User

Nice pub but very expensive. Would go back for a drink when it's nice and sit outside.

User

Lovely warm evening m- we enjoyed the garden & patio area. Excellent service at the bar & table- possibly the biggest Yorkshire Pudding we’d ever seen!
