About Handy Signs

Handy Signs is developing a Videoconferencing application to help Deaf people to communicate in real time with hearing people who don't know a Sign Language, by means of a real-time AI based interpreter from any spoken language to any Sign Language. The vision of Handy Signs is based on inclusion, that is the new frontier of the globally connected Society, which must allow everybody to access the new opportunities offered by the Internet. In this scenario, Handy Signs aims to overcome communication barriers between Deaf and hearing people. There are more than 450 Million Deaf around the world, of which 34 Million are children and under 15. The World Health Organization forecasts this figure will almost double by 2050. Only in the US there are more than 12 Million Deaf , of which 1 Million about use ASL - American Sign Language – as native language. Handy Signs will implement Speech Recognition and Signs Recognition, namely the combination of Gesture Recognition and Facial recognition, based on algorithms of Artificial Intelligence.
