Welcome to Hanging Bank Orchards! We are located in Ide Hill, just outside Sevenoaks in Kent, UK on the site of an old apple orchard Gayshaw's Orchard that was sadly grubbed up in the 1970s.
We love the Kentish countryside and its wonderful apple and fruit traditions and wanted to create something on the site to contribute to preserving varieties that are mostly no longer in commercial production.
We're only amateurs so have started small with 150 mixed apple, plum, cherry, apricot and pear trees with over 40 varieties mostly consisting of non-commercial English heritage apple varieties, as well as old European varieties. We have a range of eaters, cookers and of course juicers and cider varieties. And to keep things interesting we've also included a few modern varieties with a twist!
We're learning fast (mostly the hard way) and love every minute of it.
