Hansard Society Scholars Description
For over 20 years the Hansard Society’s prestigious Hansard Scholars and Hansard Research Scholars Programmes have been bringing undergraduates, postgraduates and professionals from around the world to study and experience British politics from the inside.
Our programmes fuse taught academic courses with a political internship placement, providing our Scholars with a thorough understanding and experience of British politics and the wider political domain.

We've got that #FridayFeeling! We're looking forward to a lovely autumn weekend in London. Can't wait to hear what our scholars get up to when we see them on Monday 😊
We’re back in London now, but our #TBT is to Tuesday night in the Grand Place! Autumn scholars Carly, Ginny, Jessie, Arianna, and Suze showing us how to do Brussels in style 💁♀️💅
We had an amazing (and long!) last day in Brussels, most of it spent in the European Parliament! We even got to visit the room where it happens - the Hemicycle. Such a great day and a wonderful trip!
Last night ended with omelettes at A La Mort Subite, a traditional Belgian cafe near the Grand Place! A fun night with a fun group of scholars!
We’re in Brussels! On our way into the European Parliament for our first meeting. We’re having a fantastic time!
Tomorrow we're off to Brussels with our scholars to visit the European Parliament and learn more about Brexit from the European perspective! This is a first for Hansard Society Scholars and we couldn't be more excited! To prepare, we looked up the most important things to know about Brussels (i.e. food and fun)!
Only one week left to visit Buckingham Palace before it closes to the public for the season! Don't miss out! Visit the Royal Collection Trust's website for more information and tickets.
It's your last chance to follow the Tusk Rhino Trail in London! On Monday they'll be removed and put up for auction by Christie's to raise funds for the charity Tusk. Find the full details and map at www.tuskrhinotrail.com.
With the constant confusion surrounding Brexit it's no wonder our scholars find the subject inescapable! Summer 2018 Scholar AP makes the argument for 'Londependence' in this week's blog. Why? Read on our website to find out!
When Hansard Society Scholars misbehave we send them to the stocks! Though we think Louis (right) looks a little to at ease there 🤣🤣 Thanks to Suze, Carly, Kayvan, & Louis for being such good sports!
We’ve had a busy second day here in Cardiff! With talks from leading Welsh academics and Welsh Assembly Members, as well as the opportunity to listen in on First Minister’s Questions at the Senedd, our scholars are starting to have a better understanding of the devolved powers of Wales. Huge thanks to all of our guest speakers for answering all of our questions, and to The National Assembly for Wales for hosting us!
We made it to the Senedd! Starting our Cardiff study visit with a guided tour of the National Assembly of Wales! 🏴
It’s Friday and our scholars have survived their first week in London! Here’s to a fabulous weekend! 🎉🙌
Today our Autumn scholars visited the UK Parliamentary Archives for a behind-the-scenes tour about the history of the archives and the preservation and restoration work they do to take care of some of the UK’s oldest documents. We even got to see Queen Elizabeth I’s signature and an original copy of the American Declaration of Independence! 😱😍
They’re here! Our Autumn scholars had their first tour of UK Parliament this morning, where they also got to see the Voice and Vote exhibition celebrating Women’s Place in Parliament.
First full day for our Scholars! Today's orientation is full of the info they'll need for a successful & fun semester in London. You can get a good start yourself if you visit our website! If you still have a question, get in touch. We're happy to help!
Our Autumn Scholars arrive today!!! While they study and intern abroad in London, Hansard Scholars live right near Waterloo and the South Bank. We thought it might be helpful to share Time Out London's Waterloo Area Guide to help them find the best places closest to home!
Wondering why you should study abroad with Hansard Society Scholars in the autumn? Our new blog from Assistant Programme Director, Erin gives you 8 excellent reasons!
