I was brought up with dogs and have always had an affinity with them. My first dog, as an adult, was Gemma, a German Shepherd who was an abandoned stray from Battersea Dogs Home, she was my best friend and will always hold a special place in my heart. I have since had the pleasure of owning and working with many dogs, all ex-rescues and all who have given me their love, trust and so much fun and pleasure over the years regardless of their previous experiences of people.
My career with dogs started as a re-homer for Dogs Trust, Evesham. I then went on to start my own Dog Walking and Homeboarding Service which I ran for six years. When I moved from Worcester to Hanley Castle where I am lucky to have large grounds and paddocks, I decided to give my time instead to short term fostering horses for the Blue Cross, and short-term fostering of dogs for the English Springer Spaniel Welfare. It has been an amazing and rewarding experience, but its time to take a break from it.
I started the home-boarding again more by accident than design looking after dogs for friends, who then recommended me on to other people, and so it began again, and Happy-Hounds Holidays Malvern was born!
Gilberts End Farm is a perfect holiday location for your dog whilst you are away on your travels, having large enclosed gardens perfect for doggie recreation, and being surrounded by beautiful countryside with direct access to footpaths across arable and pastureland, coppices and small woodland areas . The farmhouse is quirky, spacious and dog friendly. In winter dog beds of course have pride of place in front of the log burner, and on warm sunny days they can enjoy free ranging in and out of the dog safe grounds as they please.
Your dog will of course stay in the home as one of the family. We welcome visitors, by arrangement, because it is important for you to know where your dog /s will be staying and that they will be properly cared for, comfortable, and relaxed in their temporary home. I am also happy for you to join us on walks prior to his /her stay, so you get to see us interacting and the environment they will be experiencing whilst your away.
I care for them as I do my own dogs, Buddy, a Springer Spaniel, and Narla a labrador, who mean the world to me. For this reason I only accept dogs that are dog friendly, and I cannot accept entire males. I accept dogs of all ages, from puppies to older dogs. All are walked twice daily in accordance with their ability and needs. I do ask that you bring their own bed so that they have something familiar to them, and that you bring their regular food, so as not to adversely affect their digestive system with a sudden change of diet.
Although in a rural location, Gilberts End Farm is easily accessible being located just outside Upton upon Severn, Malvern being 5 miles away, and Worcester and Ledbury 8 miles. For those slightly further afield we are just 10 mins drive from the M5 and the M50.
