Harbour Lights Campsite Description

Family-friendly campsite
Situated in the south-west tip of the Lake District
Just a few yards away from Haverigg beach
Harbour Lights is a campsite conveniently located for exploring the Lake District, situated just 50 yards from dog-friendly Haverigg beach.

The site has great camping facilities for the whole family. There is a block with toilets and complimentary showers and a water point. They are completely usable; however, you may see us doing some work as we are finishing with the on-site works.

We have naturally sheltered areas, ideal to pitch the tent. Other facilities include a campers' kitchen.

Harbour Lights Campsite is conveniently situated between the village of Haverigg and the marina. The area has a variety of pubs, shops, cafés, and a great fish and chip shop.

Weve just had our first ever camping trip here and we loved it, lots of space around us, nice clean showers and toilets , little londis shop in the village and a tesco about a mile or 2 away, close to the beach, the kids had lots of space to fly kites and play games, homemade icecream in the reception area is a must, the young girl makes it herself and its the best iv had,i had biscoff which turned out to be dairy free!! Theres also a little kitchen area to wash pots, make toast, microwave, use the kettle and charge phone. All in all we had a great weekend and we would deffo return.

We stayed here 2 weeks ago

Tent pitch with EHU 3 kids 2 dogs

The site is immaculate, spacious and really quiet.

The facilities are spotless, the showers are warm, the pot wash area nice big sinks and red hot water which is rare on many sites.

There is a little room with a freezer and microwave and some plugs which we thought was a nice touch and again spotless.

We had no problems with the EHU it powered everything we needed.

Plenty of room around the tent for the kids and dogs,

Fabulous views and close to the beach.

Lovely warm welcome and staff extremely friendly

Overall a lovely little campsite and we would definitely return.

If I was to make any suggestion it would be for a play area onsite however this wouldn’t put me off going again

User

We spent bank holiday weekend here and it was lovely, we will definitely return. the campsite was clean and well kept everyone had plenty of space, it is perfect for families and right next to the beach and the ice creams are delicious.

User

This was our first time visiting Harbour lights, we were met by the owner who was very friendly and helpful. Site was lovely and clean the kids played and made friends, showers and toilets were immaculate at all times. We had to leave early due to a problem with our trailer tent but we will defiantly be back!

User

The site is well looked after the staff are very helpful. Close to the sea shops and water sports. I would recommend this site

User

Stayed here from July 21st for 2 nights. The camp is small which we liked as we could always have eyes on our children whilst they still had the freedom to play.

Our children were between 4yrs -12yrs and all thoroughly enjoyed it.

The facilities were great. Nice clean toilets/ showers. We were told they are being upgraded and expanded soon so that should improve things a little more.

There is a small kitchen area with a freezer, microwave and sink plus extra sockets if you need a bit of charge on your phone.

The beach is just a 2min walk away as is the Ski bar/cafe.

There is plenty of space for tents and motor homes.

The pictures for this site and surrounding areas do not do Harbour Lights justice.

There is a Tesco store (not 24hrs) about 5-10min drive to pick up any bits for the bbq etc.

People will always find thing to 'pick and moan' about. We say, ignore that and see for yourself. If you like things to your own way, then stay at home!

We will 100% be returning to Harbour Lights. Maybe we'll try the pods.

User

On here at the moment. Just had our second night. Love it.

Small site which is what we wanted. Right next to the sea which is wonderful. Lovely walking on the beach.

The showers are ok apparently due for upgrade which will make it even better.

Pleasantly surprised that the electric stayed on much longer than we expected. Thought the generator was going off at points in the day (as advertised) but stayed on till midnight. Again they are due to be going fully electric which will improve stay even more.

Local bar, shop and chippy all close by.

Owner was very friendly and helpful.

We are enjoying exploring the Cumbrian countryside.

Really happy with site and would certainly come back.

Lovely first weekend at Harbour Lights. Very busy with it being a Bank Holiday Weekend but it certainly wasn't cramped like a lot of other sites that pack tents, caravans etc in. Lovely clean toilets and showers. Noise was minimal at night despite it being busy, infact the noisiest thing on site was the large family of frogs lol. Site owners very pleasant and willing to help. Would highly recommend this site to any family not wanting an all singing, all dancing site. The site is still young but the improvements are ongoing and this site will go from strength to strengh making it one of the best sites in Cumbria. Look forward to returning very soon.

User

Just had an amazing few days at this lovely relaxed campsite. Directly on the beach and with views of the fells too you couldn't ask for a better location if all you want to do is chill out. There's a nature reserve that tracks the harbour which is great for walking your dog. There's Herdwicks near by for drinks and food. We'll definitely be returning. A great find

User

Just got back from 3 nights here. We absolutely loved it!! Very close to beach and 10 min walk into haverigg where theres a small shop we felt more energetic and walked into millom too. So i feel i should touch on some comments others made... Showers were clean and worked well so previous comments were obviously before they had refurb. The field was by no means water logged evrn tjo it taimed on and off the whole time. Hard standing fir campervans which was fab!! 4 washing up basins, chemical disposal, water point, electric is not run by a generator so no noise from that and about 5 or 6 massive wheelie bins!! Will definitely be returning and will look forward to seeing anymore changes or improvements you make

User

Just come back after a 2 night stay.. really friendly staff.. really accommodating and did whatever needed plus more if could to make you feel welcome and settled. Clean tidy site. Was very busy with the bank holiday weekend/ half term break.. but stayed well maintained. Will revisit and recommend

User

Great site! Facilities are clean. Very short walk to the beach. Only thing I would say it would be great if the reception had a bit of a shop for basic essentials. (Local shop short walk away sold out of a lot of stuff when we went for bbq things) But other than that we loved it.

User

Great campsite, we just spent 2 nights here and could not fault it. Very clean & tidy, toilets/shower areas were cleaned daily and to a high standard. Just a minutes walk to the beach and into the local town. While we were there they were adding to the campsite as well, so things looked to only be getting better. Would definitely book again if we were ever back in the area

User

Fantastic. We hosted our husky camp get together. Lovely location, fantastic site, friendly staff and owners. Perfect long weekend. Will be back same time next year for sure And no doubt aswell as family holidays

User

Currently on our last night of our visit. What can I say, amazing. We came in large group, as a dog rescue, so lots of people and approx 40 Dogs in total. Very accommodating from start to finish. Lovely site, great location, perfect all round. Deffo booking again for next year, if they'll have us. Thank you!

User

We've just got home from harbour lights for a great bank holiday weekend with a big group of friends. We all had a great weekend and the site was perfect for what we wanted. There was plenty of space for everyone to play unlike some sites that just cram the space over bank holidays. The kids with us loved the boat they could clamber on, and the beach which was only a 1 minute walk away, so close in fact we could walk our gazebo there as it was so hot! The homemade ice cream on sale in reception was delicious. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was the toilet block which just couldn't cope with the number of campers, they were kept clean and had lovely nice touches including fresh flowers and hand cream, but the water kept running out. They have said planning is going through for a new block and we'd come back once done. It would also be good to replace the white stones on half of the roads, they were too big to walk on easily.

We all had a great time though and would come back.

User

Just returned from a three day break at Harbour Lights campsite. What a lovely place. Hard standing pitch with ehu. Showers hot & great pressure, cleaned regularly. The fantastic beach 2 minute away, very clean & dog friendly. Had a lovely welcome from Lee who informed us of the local area. The owners are still making additions to this newly opened site & were quite welcome to any feedback & did everything to ensure you enjoyed your stay, lovely people. The only small comment & not criticism, no tv signal, but with the amazing weather we had it didn't really matter. Will definitely return.

User

We were on a non electric pitch witch I thought was a bit overpriced at £20 considering the facilities are so basic, I've paid less than that for an electric pitch elsewhere ..only 2 small showers in the men's with black mould around the shower trays, very busy in the mornings,

Personally I prefer to have marked out pitches rather than a free for all. We arrived and were told to go wherever we liked so found a quiet spot, only to go out and return later to a large group who pitched 4 tents right around us and set up a football pitch right along side our tent..

The ski bar and hurdwicks pub on the marina next door are worth a visit and the little beach is nice.

User

Nice basic campsite, nice area. Only 2 stars as it's ridiculously over priced for what it is... Had the price reflected what it was we would have gone back ... Maximum should be 15 a night, I've paid less than that for more, like ehu included, no extra charges for awning, pup tent etc. This was 24 a night for us, 1 adult, 2 kids, small campervan, small awning and a dog. A site this basic would do better charging for small, medium or large pitches, extra for ehu and drop the ridiculous 'extras' ... No shop on site (apart from selling ice cream, no basics) no staff about before 11am or after 5pm...
