Apologises for being a party pooper but we have just discovered a technical issue in our restaurant and sadly today, we will only be able to open our takeaway. So sorry to disappoint

Harbour Lights friends... we are planning the next International Mushy Pea day for the 9th November which we are custodians... Any ideas how we can celebrate the humble yet mighty mushy pea? How can we ensure they get their share of the limelight for just one day? Ideas below... come on I know you got this.

‘Harbour Lights’ in Falmouth is the MUST go-to-place when a yearning for freshly prepared and cooked fish & chips are needed!

It didn’t win the award for ‘Independent Fish & Chip Restaurant Of the Year:’2017’ just for being ordinary you know!

Whenever we come to Falmouth, we always go here. The best fish and chips, very good price and they serve battered Creme Eggs at Easter! When they ran out, they even battered one we had bought for free!

User

We visited Falmouth yesterday and popped into Harbour Lights for a sit down dinner 3 adults and 3 children, we were made very welcome and all our meals were fab , the staff were attentive and friendly, the food was great and well priced and the restaurant bright and spotless, thank you HL :)

User

We live a good twenty minutes out of town but always have our fish and chips from Harbour Lights. Even through rush hour traffic when we get the them back home they are still piping hot! We also eat in the restaurant and the staff just can't do enough for you - even checking back to ensure everyones happy with their meal. Sometimes when orderiing a large fish you might get two / three smaller ones but that's ok and not a pronlem - at least they make up the deficit plus you get more lovely crispy batter this way. If things aren't quite right at the time sort it out at the time and give the staff a chance to rectify problem. Don't immediately give poor feedback - speak to the manager before telling the world.

We ate in rather than go for take away.

Great value. Especially the kids meals. Boys ate the lot plus the ice creams and came out with a free bucket and spade (we did have to ask for the spades at the end though as no one offered).

Adult portion was ample for a lunch and overall quality & taste was probably the best so far.

We will be back very soon.

User

Very fast friendly service and the food was lovely!

User

The service is great, friendly and efficient. We had small F&C and it was enough for a lunch. Delicious. Very clean. No wonder it won F&C shop of the ear in 2017.

User

The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly. I loved the restaurant which was very tastefully decorated, bright and spacious with nice views. Definitely going back when next in Falmouth 👍😋😄

User

Spending a few days down in Cornwall; off the bat of previous visits made a point of eating at Harbour Lights.

Did. Not. Disappoint.

The fish tasted incredibly fresh, the chips delicately fried. Portion sizes were very generous. Perhaps my only, very slight, criticism would be presentation. The main plates were immaculate, so a sloppy curry sauce pot and messily heaped onion rings in an ill-fitting bowl ended up a bit of an anti-climax.

Megan, our waitress, was fantastic. Chatty and attentive - wasn’t afraid to make recommendations either. Our payment was taken by another colleague so we didn’t get to pass on our thanks; if you could do so it would be appreciated.

I will be back, as soon as I’m back in this lovely part of the world!

User

Seriously the best fish, chips and curry I have ever had the pleasure of eating. I really do hope it’s not the last time I eat here.

User

Just been down to Harbour Lights; lunch after the Sea Sunday event. Excellent service, good food and views-to-die-for views across the harbour. Also used my Mussel Card to get a very welcome 10% discount, although that discount is so new that nobody had told the staff, but to do them credit they believed me when I said I had seen it on the Falriver website. 5 stars.

User

Excellent customer service, fantastic food.

Even my dog was looked after, she was given a bowl of water and biscuits, I'm so impressed with how good the customer service is and how friendly and thoughtful all the staff were yesterday, I came in with a group of 15 people and 3 dogs, we were all seated quickly and the fish and chips were amazing, everyone enjoyed them. We will be back 👍

User

Couldn't fault this place. The price was incredible value for money, the fish was fresh and delicious, the staff and service was friendly and fast.

User

Lovely fish and chips last nite very friendly and good service

User

Lovely food can’t fault that. The service was terrible though. We had to ask for everything; to have our order taken, plates taken away, to order an ice cream and then ask twice for the bill. And it wasn’t even busy. Disappointed.

User

A bit annoyed when i came to pay.

Meals were bought out and we was asked if we want any sauces..... I asked for tarta sauce and my partner asked for gravy (She ordered a Pie).

Meals were nice, came to pay and saw a £1.25 charge for a Very small portion of Gravy!

No mention of charges when we was asked if we want any sauces.

Said to the girl on till about issue, she blamed new untrained staff.

May seem a bit petty but it was annoying as would not have asked for gravy if we had been told of charge

User

In all honestly, I used to avoid Harbour lights going back 10 years or so...but was tempted back by a family friend and was so glad that I did as I have had some really great meals there lately 2015-2018, although as of late (2018) I've had more than a couple of disappointing meals that are not up to their usual standard? And are beginning to wonder to myself if Harbour lights have again, 'lost there way'??? For it is a shame as when they are good, they are great!!!

But I've gone back with great expectations, and they have let me and my party down... I hope that they can remedy this as I still believe that they are one of the best restaurants in Falmouth.

User

Always go to Harbour Lights when we are in Falmouth and have always loved it. However we went in last Thursday and had a very disappointing meal - husband had the Colossal Colin meal and I had the regular cod and chips, the fish on both meals was over cooked and dry and the batter was very oily. On having family over visiting from Germany for Easter we decided to pay another visit on Easter Monday. Once again the fish was over cooked so much so that the thinner end of the fillet was hard - at least a quarter of the fillet. Chips were dry, tasteless and did not seem freshly cooked. The service was dreadful ...tried to order Colossal Colin again only to be told it was no longer on the menu, no bringing the new 3 fish meal that had replaced it to our attention. The staff appeared to be unsure of what they were supposed to be doing...walking round the restaurant trying to find the correct recipients of orders and delivering food to wrong tables. We paid £62 for the privilege of having this disastrous meal/shambles. Having had 2 bad meals unfortunately we will not be returning for a third...not sure how they managed to win the 2017 award! This restaurant has definitely gone downhill.

User

Worst service ever last night shame as it's normally so good and the fish and chips are the best in town .

Waiting In the queue for some time last night when a member of staff ( Erica ) started closing the outside doors with no explanation of what she was doing , leaving half of the queue inside and half of the queue totally confused on the outside of the doors. Some people in the queue left in total confusion as it appeared they had shut us out and our custom wasn't welcome . I went inside and when I got to the till was told the card machine wasn't working and I could only pay in cash which was fine as there was a cash machine nearby . It's a shame the staff didn't let others in the queue know the machine wasn't working until they had got to the till as it's a bit frustrating queueing only to be told you need to get cash and queue again.

The situation was handled very badly and could of been easily managed had someone come and explained to the queue rather than just shutting the doors in our faces !
