2 of our intrepid guests have just walked here from Buxton. They got a lift to start with but that vehicle turned back after a few mins. Wish i had asked them to my food shop while they were out!!

Just been out for a drive. Made it 200m in each direction before giving up. Not seen it so bad in many years.

The wind snow and sub zero temperatures are making it feel so much colder that it was when we were skiing last week. The drifts are really spectacular, don't think these pics do them justice! Some are 4ft deep.

This weekend's wedding 3rd March This post is for anyone attending this weekend's wedding. I will post comments and links about conditions on local roads etc. It would be a great help if those of you travelling post about the conditions you are facing - others might be going the same way and can either follow you or find another route depending on what you post!! The main thing here, is follow routes that others cars have used, don't go on the little back roads that sat navs ...like to send you on. AVOID the narrow road (summercross) which is a single track road from Tideswell to Wormhill, use millers dale instead. TAKE CARE on the peak forest to wormhill road (Sitch Road) very prone to deep snow drifts

my daughter hired Hargate Hall for her wedding in March. I stayed in the 3 bed Windsor apartment, it was excellent. Clean, well equipped and homely. Liked the library and being able to borrow a DVD - nice touch. The grounds were great for a walk and the children enjoyed playing in the wooded area.

Would recommend for a wedding or short break.

We have just had a two night stay here, booked as a last minute thing. Couldn't fault this place if I tried, we had an open fire which we took advantage of, everything you need for a cosy, chilled few days. We met anthony when we arrived and from then on we were left to ourselves. Plenty of room for large groups inside and out, large seating area outside with huge fire pit. Excellent venue for a wedding from start to finish. Thank you for a warm welcome and chilled few days, will definitely visit again, hopefully with friends 😄

We had our wedding here in December and it was magical. It was so great to have all our loved ones celebrating under one roof together. Anthony the owner was a star we couldn't have asked for a more accommodating, friendly owner. Even had a smile when our caterers fused the hall!! Thanks for everything!

We got married here in July and can honestly say it was a perfect venue. If your looking for a beautiful relaxed wedding where you're free to do it your own way and make it unique then this is the place for you! Anthony and Julie are lovely and extremely helpful! Thanks guys x

We got married here in December 2014 - it was the most amazing venue and a perfect weekend. It was exactly what we were looking for as we could do what we wanted, and the whole day was really relaxed. We also used Creative Chef Catering which were amazing. Had the meal in the marquee and even in December it was fine! It was a lot of work organising but totally worth it. Only small difficulty was organising the guests into the accommodation as the rooms are often combining doubles and bunk beds, or mezzanines! But this was all fine in the end and mostly people just get on with things. Thank you to Anthony and Julie who were fab.

We got married here in August 2015 and had the most fantastic time. Anthony was so helpful throughout. The grounds are stunning. Our Australian guests couldn't get over the fact that they were staying in a "castle" and the children absolutely loved having so much space to run and play. We cannot recommend Hargate, or Julie and Anthony, highly enough. We will be back here for our 5 year anniversary.

This place is absolutely awesome for getting everyone together. Just had my 3rd time here and as soon as you walk in the place it feels like home

Every single room has everything you need and such comfy beds.

The hall is such a party place.

I can't wait to come back and do it all over again.

Just returned from a girlie weekend and cannot recommend this accommodation enough. Beautiful hall and the surrounding area is lovely.

The rooms are really clean and spacious and are really home from home. Great for any occasion and Anthony, the owner always make you feel really welcome.

I photographed Hannah & Don's wedding at this charming venue yesterday. Superb venue for weddings and the warm and welcoming interior rooms were great for celebrating and partying late into the night.

Great venue to have a diy wedding. Fantastic accommodation, thoughtfully set up throughout for weddings. Be warned diy means diy but for the bride / groom who's up for the challenge it guarantees a special unique day!

Beautiful grounds, ideal setting for a wedding or a large family/friends get together where you can all stay together, whilst having your own space in good size double rooms complete with lounge a full equipped kitchens. An amazing way to truly enjoy your special day with family and friends around you. My niece had her wedding there October 2014, an amazing weekend :-)

Beautiful grounds, and you can actually see the stars clearly without light pollution. Accommodation comfortable and welcoming, even to iron and board, toaster and microwave as well as all the crockery you could need. Local are will attract many different activities from walking or cycling to birdwatching and history. Ideal for children with play house with toys, table football, pool table, acres of wide open space to explore, and to crown it all a fire pit around which you can sit in the dark chatting and toasting marshmallows.

Awesome venue we had our wedding party here. It was lovely and relaxed and all our guests loved it. I would highly recommend

Attended Ben and Sophie's wedding , absolutely loved the simplicity of it all , although I am sure there was still a lot of planning that went into the day , the venue has understated elegance and a lovely ambience
