Wow! What can I say about this production of The Phantom of the Opera? Words like amazing, astounding, and incredible immediately spring to mind.

The sets were fantastic and the changes, flawless (all credit to the backstage crew). The costumes were sumptuous and opulent and everything you would expect from a professional West End production. The soft, eerie lighting created a dark, tense atmosphere for the rousing notes of Lloyd-Webber's score - beautifully played by the orchestra.

The young cast were all outstanding, from the ballet to the Masquerade. Mde Giry created the mystery surrounding the Phantom, and Andre and Firmin were a wonderful duo - complementing each other with superb comedic timing.

Carlotta was a joy - perfectly cast as the Diva with a beautiful voice and just the right amount of haughty disdain (and facial expressions to match) required by the Prima Donna. She owned the stage the minute she set foot on it.

I think the entire audience fell in love the Raoul - his naïveté, his passion, and his youthful recklessness in thinking he could trap the Phantom.

The Phantom himself was amazing - dark, scary, exuding magnetism and yet, in the final act, capable of eliciting empathy from the audience. His voice soared with his madness and became hushed with his pain, capturing us all under his spell, not only Christine.

Christine was a revelation. Her beautiful voice filled the theatre until you felt every note. 'Think of Me' established the clarity of her voice, 'Wishing....' reduced every member of the audience to tears - her pain was palpable - and the E6 in the title song gave me goosebumps. Who knew that someone so small and unassuming could hit that note with such power?

The interaction between The Phantom, Christine, and Raoul was brilliantly acted and definitely worthy of a West End stage.

In short, this was an incredibly professional production and huge congratulations to the director, cast, crew, and all the Harlequins for a breath-taking show.

I have just had the most incredible week with a fantastic group of youngsters and their production of The Phantom of the Opera. From the tech and dress rehearsals to watching it tonight I have been amazed by the outstanding performances from this amazing group. Everyone had a role to play from principles, dancers and chorus and no one let the show down they were all incredible. The choreography from Cassie was some of the best I have seen and the show itself under the direction of Jonathan was of West End standard, easily the best show I have seen at the Palace Theatre. I was in tears at the end of the show with how emotional it all was and I am so proud of each and everyone one of those on stage. I am especially proud of my beautiful ballet dancer and I thank both Cassie and Jonathan for the opportunity they have given her in this show. I have enjoyed being a small part of this wonderful family this week and this show really deserves to win an award. Well done to all, Jonathan your vision really paid off and it was truly spectacular an outstanding show and an outstanding group to be part of.

I cannot put into words how good this show was!! It was truly amazing - each and every performer was brilliant!!

The casting was absolutely spot on and the lead parts were better than any West End show I have seen!

I seen 3 out of the 4 shows and I honestly say, That when the performances ended on Saturday the feeling of disappointment it was over was awful!!

Each and every member of this amazing drama group - From Jonathan, Lynne, Lynne , Kathryn Kirsty and so many others have literally changed my shy son from 3 years ago to a truly confident and happy young man! I am eternally grateful to this wonderful group of people!! You are amazing!!

User

Great turn out for the information evening last night. If anyone is thinking of joining Harlequins let me tell you what my 12 year old son said.

"I don't mind what show we do or what part I get I just like being with the people that go"

Everyone is lovely in this group, staff and members, and my son gets post show blues every time a show ends.

Performances are second to none and everything is professional and every member is valued. My son wouldn't go anywhere else :-)

User
