Nevada Sunsets...

The September show at Duxford is always a favourite, with the shorter days providing some great sunrise photographs - the 5am start has it's benefits! Although early, the engineers and crew were already on the line as I arrived, as seen here with Howard Cook getting Historic Aircraft Collection's MkV Spitfire ready for the day.

Today is Battle of Britain day back home, a day to remember and celebrate one of the RAF's greatest victories. Pictured here are the 5 hurricanes which took part in this year's Flying Legends display, of which two are BoB veterans themselves.

Back at Reno! Really enjoying seeing the Texas Flying Legends Museum aircraft on the course! Looking forward to the start of the unlimited gold tomorrow too!

A little something I did for the Flying Legends team this year... Hard to believe it's over a month since the airshow!

A trio of photos from the show at La Ferte Alais earlier this month, always a great show with plenty of Gallic flair!

Looking back over my Reno pictures, particularly like this pair of Stevo Hinton giving Voodoo a run on the Wednesday.

Last weekend I flew alongside MkI Spitfire, N3200, with Cliff Spink at the controls. N3200 now stars in the Classic Wings Wing to Wing flights, and it really is amazing to fly alongside it out of Duxford, the very airfield it was based at with 19 Squadron in 1940, prior to being shot down over Dunkirk! N3200 is now owned by the IWM, and looked after by the Aircraft Restoration Company.

Fly Low, Fly Fast, Turn Left! My review of Reno is now published on The Vintage Aviation Echo, along with a truckload of previously unseen pictures. Read it here:

This years flying season is nearly upon us, & there has been quite a bit of warbird activity already. Yesterday I caught this shot of the Comanche Warbirds MkI X4650 being given a quick run under a foreboding sky, clearing out the winters cobwebs - There is just something about a MkI Spitfire on the grass at Duxford.

Finally managed to make a decent start on my Reno Pictures last week, & this shot of "Dreadnought" passing Pylon 2 caught my eye. Owned by the Sanders, it's a highly modified Sea Fury powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-4360 Wasp Major, as evidenced by the huge cowling!

A favourite of mine from my recent work with North Weald Heritage Aviation, the ex-TFC Spit MkXIV at rest. Sad to see it leave TFC but at least it's only gone down the road :) There is also a great opportunity from NWHA in the form of hangar tours along with the chance to sit in the aircraft - take a look at their page for more information!

It has to be said, the last show of the season had a rather sad end when news filtered slowly through of an accident at Hardwick. I made the trip down there earlier this year and after (finally) finding it, very much enjoyed a relaxing day watching the Hammond clan in their element... It's good to hear Maurice made it home earlier this week, well on the mend. Here's the last frame I shot on the 19th June.

A quick look around Hangar 2 Duxford shows winter maintenance has started in earnest, pictured here is The Fighter Collection's P-40C.

Yesterday saw the close of the UK display season with The Shuttleworth Collection's spectacular Race Day Finale. What a way to end the year, and in total contrast to the first show there...

The Fighter Collection runs up their Corsair on the grass at Duxford earlier today.

Jean Munn preps the WAHT's Sopworth Snipe in readiness to fly at Stow Maries last weekend... Really is interesting watching the work that goes into operating these rotary engines.
