About Harry'S Barn

Harry's Barn is a dog friendly self catering holiday cottage, situated in the Eden valley between the Lake District and the North Pennines.

Harry'S Barn Description

Harry's Barn is a dog friendly self catering holiday cottage, situated in the Eden valley between the Lake District and the North Pennines.

The Barn stands in the peaceful and beautiful Cumbrian village of Maulds Meaburn,
the perfect base for walking, relaxing or both.

Peaceful and tranquil, it really is the ideal place to get away from the hassles of the 21st century.

Yet the interesting towns of Appleby-in-Westmorland, Kendal and Keswick are all within easy reach.

It really is an idyllic location for those who crave the tranquillity of unspoilt Cumbria, but can't resist a visit to the Lake District.

The beautiful north lakes of Ullswater and Haweswater are only 20 -30 minutes drive away, with the south lakes being a little further.

Harry's Barn really is the perfect place for your holiday in Cumbria.

There's a wood burning stove, comfy sofas in the living area and a king size bed in the main bedroom.

Children (over 5) are very welcome and you can bring your dogs too ! (see below)

* SORTED NOW! * A little request for anyone who has a spare minute! Having found that the availability calendar wasn't showing on our website, Mike has tackled it but strangely, it shows up when he looks on his tablet but not mine! So we would be grateful if a few of you could go onto www.harrysbarn.co.uk and then click on Availability and let us know if you can see anything! Thank you in advance!

User

Apologies if anyone has been trying to check availability at Harry's Barn. Thank you to Lisa who has alerted me to the fact the calendar on our website has mysteriously gone AWOL! We hope to have it back by the end of today. In the meantime, please do message me if you want to check available dates.

We had a lovely stay at Harry's Barn with our three dogs. The barn is well equipped and very cosy. Lovely walks straight from the barn and easy access to the Lakes. We were all very sad to leave. Thank you Beryl & Mike for all the little touches like the doggy bag, maps, and tea & cakes on arrival.

User

We had a last minute short break at Harry's Barn. It's immaculate and so cosy, I instantly felt at home. Everything you need is there and I loved being able to go straight out for a walk with the dog when I wanted. All the little touches, home made biscuits etc were lovely. Thanks for a wonderful break, we can't wait to come back.

User

Thank you Mike and Beryl for a fabulous week at your beautiful barn. We will be back for sure

We have just arrived home after a fabulous week at Harry's Barn. It was very difficult to leave this morning we wanted to stay. The Barn is so relaxing and felt like home as soon as we arrived. Everything you need is there for your stay along with some lovely touches. There was a doggy bag for our pooches which had a towel, bowl, toy and treats. We were also left a tea tray all laid out with everything you need for a cuppa after your journey with some lovely homemade shortbread. The village of Maulds Meaburn is beautiful and so quiet. The sheep roam freely in the village which is lovely too. If you are looking for a base to go exploring around the Lakes in your car but also like to have lovely walks and scenery on your doorstep please book Harry's Barn.

User

My boyfriend and I along with our two pups Sandwich and Dolly just got back a few days ago from our stay at Harry’s Barn and loved it! It’s so well thought out, even down to folders with maps for walking routes, rainy day things to do (although we used our rainy day to stay in the barn) different places to eat (butchers arms was a fav) games, dvds, cds, it really is like a home from home. Homemade shortbread was delish too! The village is peaceful and the neighbours all so very friendly. Mike and Beryl were so helpful too whenever we needed to ask anything from before even booking. Wonderful place to stay, would definitely recommend and return!

User

Just spent the weekend at Harry's barn and loved it. Total peace, just what we needed. Many thanks can't wait for our next trip.

User

Just spent Christmas at Harry's Barn with two of our dogs. Lovely little cottage, warm welcome from Mike and Beryl. Ideally situated if you have dogs, fields to the rear, river in front and five mins drive to open moorland. We will certainly go back.

User

Just perfect !!!!!

User

Just amazing! The barn has everything you could want or need, making your stay truly comfy and homely. I loved the books and maps to browse through and fact there was a washing machine meant we didn't have to bring tons of clothes. We loved watching the birds coming and going, the chickens from next door are hilarious to watch and the horses are v.friendly. The barn is nicely tucked away in a beautiful village, but not too far from all that the lake district has to offer. We would love to come and stay again, and I know Bramble & Flynn would like to as well. Mike & Beryl we can't thank you enough.

User

Following on from other reviews we would like to thank Mike and Beryl for a perfect week in Harry’s barn, this couple couldn’t make things more perfect if they tried. Gorgeous barn restored to a very high standard in a beautiful setting, loved it from start to finish, thank you both, mustn’t forget to mention our extra special visitor, feel very privileged, haha xx

Absolutely beautiful place to stay in the prettiest little village where sheep sleep outside your gate! This is the most tranquil place Iv ever stayed and will defiantly be returning.

User

Absolutely beautiful and tranquil place stay. We stayed mid week and had the best time.

Harry’s Barn is a delightfully quaint place to stay. It is a cottage style barn with a large master bedroom with mezzanine living room above. The living room has couches and dining table with a fabulously cosy log burner. It has a small second bedroom perfect for young children. The kitchen has everything you would need for dining in, including a dishwasher!! Bonus!!

It opens directly onto a stream with views of the village.

It is ideally located to drive into the Lake District and a short drive away from Appleby. There is a great little pub “The Butchers Arms” only minutes drive away. Would recommend the food.

We had an amazing time visiting most of the lakes, the snow made the mountains look breathtaking. There was only one hairy moment driving in the snow up, the aptly named “the Struggle” country lane to the Kirkpass Inn pub which we had to accept defeat and find another way round! But I would certainly recommend the pub a visit just for the views. It is 1500ft above sea level!! Stunning.

Would also recommend Honiston Slate Mine! Especially good for a rainy day. The drive through Borrowdale slate mountains is just amazing.

Anyway, I would certainly stay in Harry’s Barn again and would highly recommend it!! They even allow dogs!!

Thanks Beryl & Mike!! (Who btw are just as amazing as the barn ) xx

A beautifully restored 200 year old barn, set in the heart of the peaceful and tranquil hamlet of Maulds Meaburn. Fully equipped with hot water, heating, log burner and great Wi-Fi connection but retaining that important ‘quaintness’ you would expect from a building of this era. Both Beryl & Mike were available for advice both before and during arrival. Thank you to Beryl for providing a lovely welcome! We will be back!
