Today I was asked by a friend about whether I thought they should join Usborne, she wanted an honest opinion rather than from someone who was trying to sugar coat it! Here was my gut response...
I’m one of the nice ones and will only ever give my honest opinion because with something like this everyone is different and there is no point trying to mould people into doing something they’re not in it for! It’s got to be about you.
So if you were considering doing it then this i...s the absolute best time to do it.
Christmas makes for some of the easiest sales, people just love to buy books as gifts. So, I can’t see any way you wouldn’t easily make the only requirement of that first order.
From there it is genuinely a good time as the starter kit will increase the price, from September so if you wanted to give it a go why not do it now?
Lots of people come into this thinking they’ll just get the box of books, place the first order then just buy for their family and carry on just like that or not at all, lots and lots more, a bit like me, do it to make a little bit of side money, a bit of effort and a bit of return for a holiday or days out. Then you’ve got lots of others who end up making it a full time business and income and it is genuinely possible IF YOU WANT IT. And there are lots of lots of people in between each of these! You get out what you put in but my favourite phrase is “your business your way” so some months you might work lots, others you might have too much family stuff on and not work at all AND THAT IS OK.
My genuine gut reaction now is “why not give it a try” if you are sensible about it and treat it like a business you won’t lose money but you could make some or more. If you don’t get on with it then you have some lovely books for an incredible price and an opportunity you tried rather than a question over whether you could have or should have.
The pic is one of the reasons I love books, my love of books is rubbing off on my 4 year old, who picked up and started “reading” my new book before I even got to it!

Today is National Book Lovers Day!
Ignoring the obvious fact that I sell books I’ve always loved reading and I knew I’d not done anywhere near enough since my little boy was born. So at the start of the year I set myself a target of reading 6 books this year (yes in a year! I’d managed only 1 a year recently!!!).
Well today I finished number 10!!! How many do we think I’ll manage before the end of the year???
... Who do you know that loves books? Why not tag them in this post? Or even better why not buy them a book?
I can offer recommendations for all ages 0-teen but also 9 out of the 10 books I’ve read have been from our young adult range so why not give them a go?!

For a long time my little boy has woken in the night terrified and adamant he can see things, ranging from bees to ants to lots of other things. I’ve found myself asking this question regularly... What is Sleep? I can’t remember anymore.
