A year ago we vowed never to go here again but ended up going yesterday. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised the food was excellent. The salad bar was stocked full of fresh pastas and salad stuff (not our previous experiences at all) and all our meals were cooked to perfection. I hope this continues as it really was so different from a year ago! Well done harvester.

We tried the new menu yesterday evening we arrived at 18:30 and we where seated straight away as we had booked. Due to the high level of customers as they had a 50% off mains deal it was very busy so there was a delay but to be honest we didn’t really feel that it was too bad. It was nice to be able to talk to the family and not feel that we where rushed.

The food was amazing but I am not sure I would afford the full price. Might be a special occasion only.

We booked using the online system and it worked very well. There is even a space to write addition information. It was my daughter’s birthday and when her freekshake came out they had place a candle in it for her.

The service was great and we thanked her with a tip.

The salad bar was well stocked and tended to all evening.

Harvester is trying to make it self more upmarket and I think they could pull it off.

Haven't been to the harvester for years due to bad experiences but thought we would give it ago tonite... I'm so glad we did as all the food was lovely!

I would have liked a drinks menu so maybe you could invest in these

Went for an evening meal last night (29th) and came away feeling extremely disappointed. The meals weren't very nice or very hot. No jacket potatoes or new potatoes available. The salad bar was sub standard i.e. no coleslaw, potato salad, cucumber were available. The lettuce looked like it had been there a week. Most of the containers looked like they had been sitting there for weeks with no fresh top ups. My husband ordered the mixed grill and it came out looking like the food had been thrown on the plate. The fries were cold and not cooked properly. When asked if we wanted a dessert we were informed there was no ice cream. All in all will not be eating there again in the foreseeable future. The only good thing was we had a nice waitress.

where to start burnt chips and few off... our meal was awful one of party refused to eat and got it took away... not one member of staff come over to apologise and ask what the problem was... and as for the salad cart empty and not much choice...will not be returning... �

Where shall I start? Took my misses out for a late valentines meal the waitress came over took our orders and asked if we wanted drinks we ordered drinks an hour later no sign but the waitress kept apologising said she would have it sorted but nothing all of our food had come out before any of us had our drinks the food wasn’t very nice I ordered a side of garlic bread which half of it I don’t eat as it was rock solid not a happy experience at all disappointed has gone downhill since the refurb will not be coming back for sure

What a disgrace of a restaurant!

Staying at the Travelodge next door it is convenient as I work in my room until late.

Have been 3 times and it has been terrible every time. The salads look days old, the service is awful and the food is cheap and nasty.

I gave it one more chance as I had so much work to catch up on so booked a table. After 13 minutes of standing at the desk, being noticed but ignored by staff I was seated.

My starter came out and was dropped on the table, it was the wrong one, ten minutes later the correct starter was bought out, 30 seconds later my rare steak followed.

Noticing the butter on top wasn't melting I had a try. The thick steak was raw and cold in the middle, I mean fridge cold, and Luke warm on the surface. I told the staff who took it away, stood at the grill for 2 mins, bought it back saying that's how it should be! What? Cold?

I ate around it and went to pay, no discount, no apology.

The place, the service, the food and customer care is appallingly bad.

Avoid the place.

If you read the majority of the posts on here you will see how appalling it is.

Food and services was well below average. Had a 1hour wait for pancakes, and that was after chasing them about 5times due to there being no one around to speak to. When my food finally came out some was cold and some was hot.

Visited last night for a pre booked table for 12 people!

Last night was supposed to be a night celebrating my friends already belated birthday that had been arranged around both friends and family availability.

Table was booked for 7pm, birthday girl was told to get there no earlier than 7.15pm so we had time to sort the cake and decorate the table. Unfortunately this didn't happen as we were told a few lies.... the table was being cleared, the table was near on ready! Oh and then suddenly the previous booking / party were still there. We were then told they were unable to do anything as these people were entitled to stay.... ok and whilst I agree .... who wants to be hurried out? However a booking is a booking and our booking was accepted and honoured so we should have been given our table.

Instead birthday girl arrived to find us all stood in the bar area, not what we wanted at all.

We were finally sat at 8.30 so an hour and half late, orders for food were given to then only wait over an hour for it to arrive.... sadly none of us ate due to chicken looking like it had been on top of a BBQ and it was cold, the chips were shrivelled up, crunchy with no potato in them (and looked days old) a fried egg came out grey in colour and completely hard this was replaced by an under cooked jellied egg!

The steak was tough!

Now although the bill was scrapped, we had what should have been a good night out ruined!

I feel sorry for the waitresses who did a fantastic job!

Shame management wasn't the same, moody and abrupt!

Obviously we will not be returning.

Unfortunately, it was not the only time I felt disappointed with Harvester, Basingstoke as about 2 months ago, I went for a meal at Friday night, when the waitress met us saying, sorry we are closing the kitchen early! Talking about 8pm Friday night ! Could not believe it.

Half the food on menu is not available. The chips brought out were burnt to a cinder and even the waiter was embarrassed. Salad mank with no labels as to what it was, it could have been jizz for all we know!

Just to complete the experience, someone had vomited just outside the main door which we almost stepped in on the way out!

The worse meal I've had in a long time , firstly at the salad bar we had to ask for more pasta and onion bits as these where empty. Second thing was , everyone got their food except me. The waitress forgot to add it. I'm then told mine will be cooked in 3 minutes . I will add that I was having the triple chicken so advised her that it wouldn't be cooked in 3 minutes and to make sure it was cooked through . It arrived 15 minutes later and everyone else, all 5 people had finished their dinner. So mine arrived with black burnt chicken piece and a leg that was so burnt and over cooked it was hard. We all received cold hard chips. The gravy was warm and lumpy and the cob had smelly brown stuff on all of them . This was disgusting. I did t have to pay for my dinner ( which I had none of) and we got 6 free drinks. The only joy of the evening was the ice cream .

The Harvester is usually a favourite treat, but this night was not what we had expected. We ordered two Mixed Grills one medium to well done steak and the other medium rare. Both steaks arrived rare, so the one was sent back to the kitchen for more cooking. When that meal was returned to our table we started to eat the salad and fries and noticed the chickens were still pink, the gammon werenot cooked through and the sausages were also not quite cooked.



The waitress asked us about the meals which we showed her. The manager came but we don’t think she had seen the meals we had not eaten. They reduced the bill by £8. I paid £33 for two uncooked meals one starter and two Diet Pepsi.

Terrible. 15 minutes late seating is despite booking a table.

Then waited a further 10 minutes to have our order taken. Had to order drinks from the bar because wait staff were so slow.

No steak... at all... no white bread in salad bar, no butter, no staff willing to stop to ask what the problem is.

Food when finally arrived, was not cooked properly, butter chicken goujons were barely edible and chicken tasted like frozen mush.

The only positive was that I didn't end up paying for it.

Drinks were good.



The prices are ridiculous for such bad food

Served us right for not reading the reviews before going !! The place hasn’t changed. Also, we had to eat next to the staffs who were on break, their food looked so much better ! Perks of working their I suppose !

Never again came for our Valentine's dinner everything was well over cooked I asked for my stake medium and it came out well black waitress just ignores you I asked for some money off they give us our cokes free for the problem I then had to get up and find a waitress to pay my bill

Had the bacon cheese burger, absolutely disgusting tasted like a microwave burger. And the chicken spicy chicken and prawns, not spicy at all and prawns were chewy and hard. Refused to give us a refund of any kind as we paid at the bar as we sat outside. Disgraceful!

Doesn’t even deserve a 1 �

Anyone wishing to visit I wouldn't bother. Just been for a meal with my partner. Had to order drinks ourselves as waited 15 means from seated before the waitress approached us. I ordered a chicken burger and asked for it to be plain rather than with piri piri sauce. Low and behold the burger arrived dripping in piri piri sauce. Upon telling the waitress she tried to deny that it had piri piri sauce on it before saying "I'll get my manager"

The manager briefly approached and said we wouldn't be charged for my meal.

We soon called the waitress back over and ordered some more drinks. 20 minutes later and still no drinks arriving we decided to head to the bar to order them ourselves. By this point we had noticed all the waiting staff and bar staff were literally stood in a corner of the bar stuffing their faces with sweets before serving more customers (extremely unhygienic). Once sat in the bar area with our drinks the waitress came over and practically threw our bill on the table and said "u can pay at the bar for that".

Disgraceful service with awful food. Certainly won't be coming back ever again!
