Working away from home and found The Royal just up from where we were staying, great food, friendly staff and great prices thanks to The Harvester app, £20 for two big meals and two pints in London, what more can I say 😃

We both chose the half-chicken with fries and corn. I had the seasoned fries and my husband chose plain but we were both really happy with the food and the service. It was Sunday and busy but we had booked and were seated straight away. Service was very good and we had the 33% voucher so our meal was very reasonable. The Sundae Best with raspberry sauce was wonderful as usual.

Very impressed with the food. The price the the whole place how clean it was but above all the service was first class. I also love the open fire.

Had family visiting and chose this place. Weather was amazingly quite good for this time of year so sat outside in the garden. Great space for our 17 month old to run around in and food was great! I had chicken and waffles.....It was really really good!!

We hadnt booked and restaurant was busy but we were found a table straight away. The waitress served us quickly & the food arrived quickly too - nice & hot and plenty of veg. The staff were lovely and it was a very enjoyable meal

Visited as a walk in and was seated straight away although there was a time limit on the table. We needed to leave before the time limit anyway. Sat in a nice quiet area (away from kids). Served quickly, food arrived quickly, nice meal, good service.

Visited after a gap of many years (previous visits were extremely poor). Happy to say we enjoyed this visit. Firstly, we were waited on by Izabella who was just lovely. Salad bar was good and meals were enjoyable although not quite worth the prices they charge, when it was just pub lunch quality. Hubby had the seabass (which was pretty bland) and I had the gammon. That said, we very pleased with the prompt and friendly service and we were in and out within an hour.



The car park was quite full but we're not sure where all the people were as it was pretty empty in the restaurant.



Toilets were very clean which always helps to give a good impression. Love the help yourself soft drink machine!

We were disappointed as sea bass was not available on the menu. We had specially gone for it . Waitress informed us Oh yes we ran out of it yesterday.

Surely management could have ordered more for the next day.

We both chose the fish dishes. We had the same a few weeks ago which was perfectly cooked and presented. My partner chose the sea bass. This time it was very over cooked and very small. Also the size of the portion of mash potato was also small. My salmon was cooked to perfection and it came with rice and peppers. We were also disappointed with the salad bar. When the Harvester reopened after refurbishment the salad bar offered a lot of choice. This time there was not much to choose from, the bowl with the iceberg lettuce was almost empty and what was left was unappetising. I loved it when they had the black olives and gherkins. All said I would still visit again, hopefully it was just a one off. I have noticed that one day the food is good and the next not so. The staff were very pleasant.

We all like Harvester meals & the general layout of most restaurants in the chain.But slow service & not a busy time is so annoying,the meals was all fine but the shelf’s next to the tables was thick with dust & old marks on walls & windows.Its been very hot over the last few weeks with the heatwave & we was melting in there,clearly no air conditioning.The windows was painted shut,so not good conditions while your eating.Spring clean,quicker service & air conditioning would make the world of difference.

However, a massive thank you to the two men trying to find my bracelet and their kids jumping into it! Bless you lot! :) I did find it! Yay!

No tomato, cucumber or peppers on the salad bar , the reason the waitress gave me was it was busy on bank holiday Monday. ......lol

Didn't like the chips and choice of desserts

We waited ages to be seated then when we did it seemed like forever till someone came over to ask what we wanted even when we asked for the bill it took a while - food was nice but as we don't live locally it's unlikely we would go there again anyways.



Their service time needs work.

Really rubbish service. About 20 staff on and no one seemed to know what the hell was going on, although it wasn't too busy. The manager was obviously flustered and shouting and barking instructions to other staff who generally looked confused. Two of us received our meals - the third was brought out and although we waved at the guy, he looked around really confused and took it back in. After leaving it for 5 minutes thinking he was just going to check the table number, I went in to ask and found the guy casually behind the bar serving customers. When I mentioned the food he just went "Oh yeah...", went back into the kitchen and handed it to me. Super...!



Alright for a chilled drink but for lunches or dinner steer clear.

Decided to give this place one last chance after a few bad experiences here, yet again, very disappointed. My wife and I came yesterday evening for our wedding anniversary. It started well, seated straight away, order taken and delivered promptly... that's where it all fell apart. My wife found hair in her meal, looked like beard hair, low and behold, kitchen staff had beards... no hygiene netting..!!!! My wife's meal was taken back to the kitchen for a fresh portion of fries to be added to the plate, unfortunately the rest of the meal wasn't kept warm while doing this so came back to the table cold. As you can guess we spent the rest of the time examining everything, this kind of ruined the evening tbh... didn't even finish the meal, we didn't stick around for puddings, just paid and left as quickly as we could.. last chance saloon... not returning and definitely telling friends and family to avoid. Once is an error, 3,4 and even 5 times is a serious hygiene issue.

My own fault for returning I suppose!!!!

Cold beans cold scrambled eggs ... sausages were mushy was not nice at all. Will not return.The breakfast wasnt even on a buffet so there was no excuse for it to be cold. It was cooked to order. Not impressed.

The lady that was serving us is very unfriendly , she needs customer service training she snaps on customer and made you feel that you could not say anything "I'm in charge" give you an answer ang turn her back on you , full of attitude
