I've been going there for about 30 years now. From my first visit I was impressed that they took time to find what your actual cycling needs were and didn't try to sell you somehting more expensive than you needed. Likewise with repairs e.g not [putting a new chain on in the depths of winter (when it'll just get wrecked) but will keep it going till the spring and change it then. It's the sort of shop I wouldn't hesitate recommending t people and everyone I have has been really happy with their experience there.

I didn't buy my bike from Harvey's but, despite being mechanically competent, I do take it there to get it serviced and fixed from time to time. I stopped off on my way home last week as I had a curious problem with the front wheel going out of alignment. Rather than sell me a new wheel (I had enquired as to the price) the owner fitted a new axle and told me to come back next week. No cash, no details just 'come back next week and let me know if it worked'. That pretty much sums up this business, no nonsense, expert advice and simply great service. Halfords cannot compete (though their bikes may be a bit cheaper).

Really excellent service, nothing is too much for the staff to help with any problems

I bought 6 bikes from the store 3 years ago. The staff gave great advice on the appropriate cycle for each family member. It was "great" because the bikes have been just what we wanted for our usage over the past 3years. Returning to the store for more kit servicing etc I have always had professional first rate service and advice. On Saturday 3rd September 2016 I was advised NOT to buy an expensive piece of kit as it was not best for my bike. All bikes have been serviced at the store. Not once have I been disappointed by Harvey's or its staff. The staff really know their subject they have been helpful and friendly.

I went into the shop as I was having problems with my bike. The staff member who dealt with me was very patronising and rude, told me to 'bloody well take better care of my bike'. When I suggested I might fix it myself, to save costs, he said that judging by the state of the brakes, he didn't think I was capable. I told him not to be so rude, but he didn't seem to listen.

They did check my bike over, and tell me how much everything was going to cost (one positive) but the way they dealt with me meant I will not be returning. If you want loyal customers, start by showing them a bit of respect.
