75 years ago tomorrow a young James Cockerill lost his life 5 days after landing on the beaches in Normandy. When I look at my next door neighbour who turned 19 this week it makes you realize just how young these boys were. I have read Jim's letters which were sent home just before he died and they make quite emotional reading but he was looking forward to coming home in the near future. Sadly he never did.

Today is the official Birthday of Her Majesty the Queen. Happy Birthday Ma’am.
God Save the Queen.

D-Day 75, in memory of all the brave who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom from oppression.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning... We will remember them.
