The team was tasked following a report of two males and a young child on an inflatable kayak possibly in difficulty near Hastings pier.

Today we stand shoulder to shoulder with Les Sauveteurs en Mer - SNSM and all French search and rescue crews after hearing the tragic news that they have lost three of their own.
Such remarkable courage in the service of others is rarely equalled and never surpassed. They made the ultimate sacrifice.
Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and those who responded today in such a valiant and courageous manner, in the most horrendous and difficult circumstances, involving three of their own search and rescue family.

Following reports of young people off shore in an inflatable, we were tasked along with Bexhill Coastguard Rescue team and RNLI Hastings Lifeboat Station to conduct a search and ensure the people in question were safe.
Having conducted an extensive search in partnership with the Hastings Inshore Lifeboat no persons were identified as being in difficulty. As a result the teams were stood down.
