Great support from Age UK
Everyone feels uncertain about what’s going to happen next with the coronavirus pandemic. This up to date article is the best we've seen, and is loaded with “lots of charts, data and models”.
“What’s the current situation? What options do we have? What’s the one thing that matters now?”
“What does a good coronavirus strategy look like? How should we think about the economic and social impacts?”
... If we hammer the infection now with strong self-isolation measures now, then the worst impact of the infection can be avoided. Other countries have done this successfully. A hard shutdown now buys time. This could mean that restrictions last for weeks rather than for months, and then be replaced by widespread testing and contact tracing.

Leave no one behind. One of our team got this through their letterbox this morning - this seems a great idea to copy, and could help people on almost every street if it’s adopted
Update received from DONLONS PHARMACY: they have asked us to share this. “Because of the problems we are currently facing we are planning to restrict access to the pharmacy We will only let patients into the pharmacy via the front doors and will keep the shutter between the pharmacy and the health centre closed We also plan to restrict the number of patients in the pharmacy at any one time to 5. We feel that this will allow people to abide by the 1m distance rule and will also offer a certain level of protection to the pharmacy staff”.
Social distancing - green, amber and reds
We have issued new Coronavirus advice on our website. We are moving to phone consultations and will avoid booking face to face appointments whenever possible. From next week we plan to have video consultations available.
Coronavirus is on the point of spreading much faster and to many more people. Distancing yourself now from other people is now becoming vital. Don’t travel. Don’t go to crowded places. Avoid public transport. And above all wash your hands regularly
Reminder to patients at Haydock Medical Centre. If you are unable to (or - with Coronavirus - do not wish to) come to the surgery you can see a doctor online with same-day video consultations available between 6:30pm – 8pm and on weekends To book, go to the Push Doctor site and create your individual account today.
Don't panic, but be careful - help flatten the curve
