About Haywards Heath & District Angling Society

Quality stillwater and river fishing at various picturesque locations in the heart of West Sussex

Haywards Heath & District Angling Society Description

WE ARE 100 YEARS OLD! ! !

Hayward Heath Angling Society was founded in 1912 by a handful of local men seeking good local sport, when membership of the society was 5 shillings a year. Since then it has grown into a society that owns several stretches of the Sussex Ouse and with a membership that spans several counties and runs into the hundreds.

Besides the Sussex Ouse, stretches of which the Society controls from Lindfield down to Goldbridge at Newick, a total of almost 9 miles, the Society also offers excellent fishing on several local still waters ranging in size from 1 acre to about 14 acres.

Our waters contain most species of British freshwater fish: Brown Trout , Grayling, Barbel to over 15lbs, Tench over 7lbs, Pike to 26lbs, Carp over 20lbs, Crucian Carp, Roach, Rudd, Bream, Perch over 3lbs, Chub to 6lbs, Dace, Gudgeon, Eel and occasionally Rainbow and Sea Trout

To find out more and details on membership please visit out main webiste at www. hhdas.com

Congratulations to new member Simon Judd who landed a new club record Common Carp from Balcombe today weighing in at 27lb on the nose. Records will be updated on the website as soon as one of us can get round to it.

*** Please Share **** Last Night (11th/12th May) The storage facility I rent a container from was broken into. Unfortunately my container was one of the targeted containers and while thankfully I am left with all the sentimental items from when I cleared out my family home, The scumbags (I am being family friendly) stole in excess of £3000 worth of fishing tackle. I shall list below, but please everyone keep your eyes and ears to the ground, while it can be replaced, that tac...kle created a lot of good memories for me in the wake of Dads passing, and some of it I have had since I was a teenager. I have to face the reality I am unlikely to see it again, but any hope no matter how small of bringing these Arseholes to justice would be massively important. The items stolen are as follows:- 3 x Greys 3.25 Aircurve 12 Ft Rods with Cork Handles 3 x Fox RX Alarms with Customers superhero bobbins 3 x Shimano Ultegra 14000 XTD's 1 x Trakker V2 Brolly with Infill Panel, Groundsheet and Skull Cap 1 x Fox Deluxe Camo Reclining chair 1 x Fox Camolite 3 Rod Holldall Compact 2 x Korda Compaq Large 1 X Korda Tackle Safe with assorted End Tackle 1 x Korda Rig Safe 1 x Bivvy Loo 1 x Greys 42 Inch Landing net and handle 1 x Greys GT spod rod 12ft and Mitchell AvoCast Reel 1 x Ridgemonkey Bivvy Lite 1 x Fox Compact Rod Pod 1 x Trakker Cool Bag 1 x Procat Mk1 Bait Boat 1 x Fox Easy Mat Camo 1 x Fox Camo Retention Sling 1 x Free Spirit CTX 1.5lb Barbel Rod and Daiwa Ninja Feeder Reel 1 x John wilson Avon Quivertip and Shakespeare reel 1 x Normark Black Medallion 1 x Deeper Pro Sonar 1 x Nash Cyber Shot Throwing Stick 1x Nash 6ft Scope 2lb Rod + Bag and Nash BP4 Reel 1 x Nash Dot Spod 1 x Korda SLR Marker set 1 x Fox Distance Sticks 1 x Reubon Heaton Digital Scales 1 x Ridgemonkey Collapsible bucket 1 x Golf laser rangefinder Assorted End Tackle Thanks guys. The bits can be replaced, but I use fishing to deal with my stress/depression and to get closer to Dad. Its hard to comprehend that I am without this safety net in the short term while I go through all the paperwork.
Thanks in advance

EDIT: Willing to offer a 2020/2021 membership in exchange for the work.
Do we have any members within our ranks that do web design, and specifically WordPress? If so could you pop myself ( Dan Ford ) a pm?
Many thanks in advance

OK guys just putting this out there to the members, Cherry carp (based in Nutley) are giving away 100kg of old stock bait to a club/syndicate that needs to feed up its fish, they will give it to whom ever gets the most likes, so can we head over to their page and give my suggestion a like (its the second comment from the top). Ps they also do a great range of baits and tackle at affordable prices. Boillies are £5 per Kilo 😲👍

Fantastic Work party at Balcombe lake this morning. Lots of positive work done, new car park gate installed, cutting back and tidying ready for 1st April.
On the not so good side, we filled 4 black sacks worth of rubbish, most of which appears to have been discarded by Anglers. Therefore it is necessary to remind everyone of Rule G.15 which states:
Any Member found fishing with litter of any kind in their... swim, or found to have fouled any pathway or swim, shall be subject to disciplinary action at the discretion of the Committee. (For the avoidance of doubt, MEMBERS MUST REMOVE ALL LITTER BEFORE COMMENCING TO FISH.) Fires must not be lit, nor must any damage be done or act committed detrimental to the Society's interest. Members must be particularly careful to shut gates, avoid damaging hedges, fences etc. and avoid walking through standing crops, including un-mown grass.
We hate to sound like a broken record on this but a lot of effort goes into keeping our waters nice, safe for our members and more importantly, safe for the nature in and around the waterways. Please remember to take all rubbish home with you and pick up any litter even if it’s not yours.
Our sincere thanks to our members who helped out today.

We are planning a work Party at Balcombe lake this Sunday 17th March. We have identified several things that need to happen, remedial work to the swim fronts, repair the car park gate and replace the gate access to the beach to allow barrow access.
On top of this there is the usual tidy up and prune of swims which needs to happen. We are planning to have a series of work parties throughout March on Balcombe.
If anyone has any spare time on Sunday Morning and can assist we wo...uld love to see you there. The committee has great ambitions for our water this year, but we can’t do it alone. Please bring any tools you feel would assist with you.
Aiming for a 9am start and usually finish around lunch.
Thanks in advance

Member Colin Etherington is absolutely ecstatic this morning having tempted this magnificent 12lbs 6oz Barbel from East Mascalls. Colin reports the fish “fought like a Trojan” and was tempted on a tasty lobworm hookbait, the rain preventing his favoured pva bag method. Cracking work Colin!

Two absolute bangers out of Balcombe this week, member Rohan Lawson with a beautiful linear upper double and a brute 21lb Ghostie for James Baker. Top Angling on a water famed for being tough this time of year. Also good to see the 21lb fish putting weight on over its last capture in July by over 2lbs.
Great angling fellas. Now, where did i put my rods...
