Our Chief Executive Debbie Wilcox was at Shire Hall this morning for the ceremony to mark the start of #ArmedForcesWeek. Headway Shropshire has signed the Armed Forces Covenant to support the Armed Forces Community. We have several clients that use our services that have served in the forces and we also employ ex- service personal in our community support team. We hope to offer more opportunities to work with the Armed Forces over the next few years.

Our support staff and volunteers are amazing at planning new activities for our clients. This challenged was to create a structure from spaghetti and marshmallows. This was a great activity to get creative, understand balance and teamwork but it was also a lot of fun and quite a few of the marshmallows' got eaten. #challenge #marshmallows #rehabilitation

One of our talented clients at Headway Shropshire has been busy crocheting elephants for us to take to our awareness stands at RSH and PRH. Our next stall will be on Wednesday 10th July at Shrewsbury Hospital in the outpatients near the League of Friends Café. #sath #elephant #braininjury #awareness

It is always amazing to see what our clients create in the art room Headway Shropshire. Most have not picked up a pencil or brush since leaving school. They discover talents and skills they never knew they had. #newskills #talent #rehabilitation #pencil #artwork

Our new Headway Shropshire leaflet has just been delivered and it looks amazing. Huge thank you to Lanyon Bowdler for kindly sponsoring the design and printing of this essential literature, which explains how we can improve life after brain injury for individuals and their families. #braininjury #leaflet #information

Our Carers Group will be meeting tomorrow evening at the Headway Shropshire rehabilitation centre 6pm to 7.30pm. We would like to welcome all carers who provide support for brain injury survivors and families. Please do get in touch if you have yet to attend a meeting and would like too, it can be so valuable just to have a couple of hours to talk with people who know what you are going through. Call us on 01743 365565 if you are interested in finding out more or please email Jamie on outreach@headwayshropshire.org.uk

Thank you to Whittingham Riddell chartered Accountants for taking part in our awareness day on Friday. We have just received a donation of £106 from the amazing team along with these great photos of them all wearing a hat to raise awareness of brain injury. #HatsForHeadway #braininjury

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who volunteers for Headway Shropshire, whether it is in our rehab centre, at fundraising events, or as one of our trustees. You have all helped improve life after brain injury. #VolunteersWeek #thankyou

This beautiful cheese board has been created at Headway Shropshire by one of our clients in the woodwork room with the help of one of our support workers. It is amazing what you can create out of a nice piece of mahogany, a tile, two handles and a few magnets recessed on the back to hold the cheese knives. #woodwork #rehabilitation #braininjury

Thank you to everyone for supporting Martin for his glider challenge. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances the glider flight was not able to go ahead this weekend. Martin is actively looking for an alternative personal challenge to do instead in the near future. Due to GDPR we are unable to contact all the individuals direct who have sponsored Martin through Paypal and JustGiving. We would be grateful if you could let us know if you would like us to refund you the sponsor money or transfer to Martins new challenge. You can direct message via Facebook or email me jo@headwayshropshire.org.uk.
