Healthcare & Assistive Technology Society

About Healthcare & Assistive Technology Society

Assistive technology is any product or service that enables a child, young person or adult to live a more independent life. Assistive Technology can range from everyday products such as specialist walking canes, bath hoists and stoma and continence products to more sophisticated items such as adapted kitchens and bathrooms, sensory equipment and powered wheelchairs.
The Healthcare and Assistive Technology sector is an extremely important part of modern-day care management. The equipment it provides transforms lives, improving independence and enhancing safer living.

The Healthcare and Assistive Technology Society is for people working in the assistive technologies sector – people who deal with the public and who advise on, sell, fit, install and adjust these products. It aims to raise standards and give members of the public (and healthcare professionals) the confidence that if they deal with a member of the Society they are dealing with someone they can trust.
Every member of the Society signs up to a Code of Professional Conduct, committing to keep their knowledge and skills up to date and behave in an ethical way.
