Heart Of The Lakes - Lake District Cottages

PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY THEY ARE TOO INCONSISTENT. I spent £1800 alot of money for 2 weeks over Xmas and new year. The place was good to start with until 1- found food in the grill, 2- found two sewing needles in the carpet ( we have a baby), 3- the place had fleas. My wife and oldest daughter had little red marks all over their legs. We asked to be moved as we didnt want our kids in the bungalow. We were only offered accommodation below what we'd paid for. When I questioned this they said all their property's were booked. NO CHANCE. Moved out on new years eve with all the kids presents, re pack the bags a night mare. The place we had to settle for was 300£ cheaper and all we got was a 50£ refund. Apparently they sent a pest control guy In and they said it was fine BUT THEY DIDN'T RENT IT FOR A FEW WEEKS. A friend of mine is a vet and confirmed they were flea bites. Whatever the response is to this from HOfTL. Please believe me. THEY ARE A TERRIBLE COMPANY TRY THE COPPERMINES THEY ARE BRILLIANT AND VERY PROFESSIONAL.

Had an amazing holiday in the Lakes through HOTL! Customer service was excellent - everyone we spoke to was really helpful. We will definitely be booking another holiday with these guys.

We always book with Heart of the Lakes. Great customer service and the best cottages to choose from. What more can I say?

I am not normally one to comment on these forums however we have had the best week away for a long while so I thought I would write a short review.

This has been the second trip to the Lakes for my wife and I (and with Heart of the Lakes) but the first with our little one. Aug 2015 (Boness) was our first trip when my wife was 8 months pregnant so this time we were looking forward to doing more while we were here. We decided to go to Ambleside this time and we stayed at Rushbrook Cottage. A quaint traditional cottage with ample of parking, a short walk from local amenities and shops (and a few playgrounds to the delight of our daughter). The cottage has a very generous bedroom and a small single room big enough for the travel cot and a small library of books...! A good sized living room and a lovely open fireplace. Kitchen is all you need and a fabulous garden. We met the owners who live in the rear annex of the cottage and they are a lovely couple.

One small issue was dealt with immediately by the office team. The dvd player had been removed when a new tv was put in which used HTMI rather than scart. A new dvd player was installed the next day to the further delight of our daughter! Great customer service.

The week was exceptional from our cottage to the HotL team / service to the glorious weather we had all week. We will definitely be returning to the Lakes and will use HotL again.

I have stayed with HoTL many times but their lack of customer care when we asked a manager to speak to us about one or two solvable issues, slight refund or an apology, fell on deaf ears; hence the one star review. We are booking with Cumbrian Cottages and Owner's Direct for next year.

Used to be a company we booked with twice a year with but poor customer service from our recent visit has meant we will not use them again. We booked a large property at some expense to cater for my large grown up family and disabled sister. Having paid a premium for the use of a swimming pool and the required number of bathrooms I expected those facilities to be available. When the Leisure club had building work the company sent an email saying it wasn't their fault as they couldn't guarantee when facilities are open in the Lakes. This we were disappointed with but could understand, when we turned up and a bathroom; which we had paid for wasn't working and hadn't been since December we wanted some response from a manager.The receptionist said she had left a voicemail, I don't have voicemail, and a manager was unavailable but would contact us, she didn't. I have left this 1 star review for the lack of customer service. I have enjoyed many holidays with the company but when things went wrong wanted some acknowledgement and some positive response and got none..
